About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Windows Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting Windows-based systems across our organization. You will ensure that our Windows servers and related services are stable, secure, and performing optimally. As a Windows Administrator, you will play a key role in deploying and maintaining the Windows operating system, applying patches, handling troubleshooting, and ensuring seamless integration with other IT systems.

Key Responsibilities:Windows Server Installation and Configuration

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems, including Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022.
  • Set up and configure Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other Windows-based services.
  • Install and configure server hardware and software for both physical and virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
  • Manage and configure Windows server roles and features, including IIS, file services, and Remote Desktop Services (RDS).
  • Integrate Windows servers with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure) and on-premises systems.

System Maintenance and Monitoring

  • Perform routine server and system maintenance, including applying updates, patches, and security fixes to Windows servers.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security to ensure smooth operation of all Windows-based servers.
  • Use monitoring tools to identify system performance issues, bottlenecks, and resource constraints, ensuring optimal operation.
  • Manage system logs and events to proactively detect system anomalies or security incidents.

Troubleshooting and Support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve system and network-related issues, including hardware, software, and connectivity problems.
  • Provide timely support for Windows-based system outages or service disruptions, minimizing downtime.
  • Perform root cause analysis for system failures and apply corrective measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Work closely with other IT teams to resolve complex technical issues that span multiple systems and platforms.

Windows Security Management

  • Implement and maintain security best practices, including user account management, permissions, and access control policies.
  • Configure and manage Windows Firewall, antivirus, and other security tools to protect the system from internal and external threats.
  • Apply security patches and updates to all Windows servers regularly, ensuring compliance with company security policies.
  • Manage security auditing, including reviewing event logs for unauthorized access or other security issues.
  • Monitor and enforce password policies, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and other security measures.

Backup and Disaster Recovery

  • Manage and configure backup systems to ensure that critical system data and server configurations are securely backed up.
  • Regularly test backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure systems can be restored in case of failure or data loss.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and ensure that critical Windows-based systems can be quickly restored after a disaster.
  • Monitor the backup process to ensure successful data backups and resolve any issues promptly.

Active Directory and User Management

  • Manage Active Directory (AD) including user account creation, group policies, and permissions.
  • Implement and manage organizational units (OUs), group policies, and group memberships for users and computers.
  • Configure and maintain security groups, user profiles, and login scripts to streamline access and improve security.
  • Implement user access controls and identity management procedures in line with company policies.

Automation and Scripting

  • Automate repetitive administrative tasks using PowerShell scripts or other automation tools.
  • Develop scripts for user account provisioning, system monitoring, software deployment, and backups to improve operational efficiency.
  • Ensure scripts and automation processes are maintained and regularly updated.

System Optimization and Performance Tuning

  • Monitor and tune the performance of Windows servers to optimize system resources such as CPU, memory, and disk usage.
  • Analyze system performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement appropriate tuning.
  • Review and manage system storage, ensuring proper allocation and minimizing space constraints.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of system configurations, updates, changes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Document procedures for server setup, maintenance, security policies, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Generate regular reports on system health, server performance, security audits, and compliance status.
  • Ensure proper documentation of incident resolutions and follow-up actions to improve troubleshooting processes.

Collaboration and Support

  • Work with other IT teams to integrate Windows servers with network, storage, and cloud systems.
  • Provide support for internal teams and end-users related to system access, server performance, and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of Windows server upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
  • Train and assist junior system administrators or internal users on best practices for managing and accessing Windows systems.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5 years of experience in Windows Server administration.
    • Hands-on experience managing and supporting Windows Server (2016, 2019, and 2022).
    • Strong experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management.
    • Experience with server hardware, virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
    • Solid understanding of networking, security best practices, and system monitoring tools.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency with Windows Server configuration and troubleshooting.
    • Advanced knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation and task management.
    • Familiarity with backup software (e.g., Veeam, BackupExec).
    • Experience with security tools such as Windows Defender, VPN, and firewall configurations.
    • Strong understanding of Windows security features, such as BitLocker, Windows Defender, and Access Control Lists (ACLs).
    • Knowledge of cloud-based services and how to integrate Windows systems with hybrid environments.
    • Understanding of disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Attention to detail, especially in system configuration and troubleshooting.
    • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Certifications (preferred):
    • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
    • CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
    • ITIL Foundation or similar IT management certifications.
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP).
