Responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies and providing IT with a long-term perspective on the relationship between database technology and business objectives.

  • Acts independently or as a member of a project team to provide analytical support and consulting on projects.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server and Oracle database software on various platforms.
  • Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies.
  • Uses knowledge, creativity, company practices and priorities to obtain solutions to complex problems.  Work with business representatives to combine business and technical expertise in the requirements development phase.
  • Create automation for database infrastructure projects, deployment automation and administrative tasks.
  • Maintain data accuracy and consistency for databases by running regular built-in utilities and custom-built routines and processes.
  • Develop and executes test plans and testing for complex solutions.
  • Take on additional database responsibilities as skill set increases.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.

Job Qualifications: (Indicate requirements/desired that are job-related and consistent with business necessity, e.g. Education & Certifications, experience, knowledge, skills & competencies/job dimensions of working relationships.)

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, a related degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong command of MS SQL Server and Microsoft Azure Cloud Database Services (other cloud Database services preferred in addition)
  • In-depth understanding of the database engine and strong performance tuning skills.
  • Programming experience with Infrastructure as a code (IAC) and DevOps models.  Ability to create Database Projects (Visual Studio preferred), and CI/CD automation processes. 
  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
  • Ability to solve complex issues, good at problem statement analysis and solution design thinking.
