Responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the development and organization of databases, assessment and implementation of new technologies and providing IT with a long-term perspective on the relationship between database technology and business objectives.
Participates in the requirement development for applying business needs to database solutions. Ensure requirements are accurately reflecting the business processes.
Provides work breakdown and direction to more junior team members.

- Acts independently or as a member of a project team to provide analytical support and consulting on projects.
- Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server and Oracle database software on various platforms.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies.
- Uses knowledge, creativity, company practices and priorities to obtain solutions to complex problems. Work with business representatives to combine business and technical expertise in the requirements development phase.
- Create automation for database infrastructure projects, deployment automation and administrative tasks.
- Maintain data accuracy and consistency for databases by running regular built-in utilities and custom-built routines and processes.
- Develop and executes test plans and testing for complex solutions.
- Take on additional database responsibilities as skill set increases.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership.
Job Qualifications: (Indicate requirements/desired that are job-related and consistent with business necessity, e.g. Education & Certifications, experience, knowledge, skills & competencies/job dimensions of working relationships.)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer engineering, a related degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience.
- Strong command of MS SQL Server and Microsoft Azure Cloud Database Services (other cloud Database services preferred in addition)
- In-depth understanding of the database engine and strong performance tuning skills.
- Programming experience with Infrastructure as a code (IAC) and DevOps models. Ability to create Database Projects (Visual Studio preferred), and CI/CD automation processes.
- Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.
- Ability to solve complex issues, good at problem statement analysis and solution design thinking.
