Razorpay Ad Sales Division: We at Razorpay's Ad Sales Division aim to create an industry-first advertising and revenue generation platform that leverages our extensive payment ecosystem. Our advertising platform enables our merchants and partners to acquire and retain users by targeting specific user cohorts based on spending behavior, transaction patterns, and demographics with tailored advertising solutions.
This ad platform is driven by the network effects of Razorpay's expansive merchant and banking partnerships:
- Merchants → Banks: Merchants can acquire and stimulate spends by targeting segments within the vast user base of our banking partners.
- Banks → Merchants: Banking partners can run payment offers to stimulate spends and acquire users by promoting products at merchants with large captive audiences.
- Merchants → Merchants: Merchants can target overlapping user cohorts belonging to non-competing merchants to augment user acquisition and increase engagement.
The Role
As an Ad Sales Leader at Razorpay, you would be responsible for driving our advertising revenue growth, building and leading a high-performing sales team, and developing strategic partnerships with key clients. You should be comfortable carving out sales strategy, defining OKRs for the team, helping build revenue roadmaps and setting up the right execution engine working with various stakeholders across marketing, product, data analytics, and sales teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
Devise Sales Strategy: Define both long-term strategy and quarterly roadmap to achieve the revenue targets and create impact. Identify and develop new revenue streams and opportunities within Razorpay's ecosystem.
Lead Sales Team: Build, mentor, and develop a team of advertising sales professionals. Establish clear performance expectations, metrics, and accountability frameworks to drive results.
Drive Revenue Growth: Implement innovative sales approaches to consistently meet or exceed revenue targets. Analyze market trends and competitive landscape to refine sales strategies.
Key Account Management: Establish and nurture relationships with major clients and agencies. Lead complex negotiations and serve as the escalation point for resolving client concerns.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, marketing, and analytics teams to develop compelling advertising solutions. Provide market insights to inform product development.
Stakeholder Management: Work with senior management in Razorpay in defining the strategy for the Ad Sales Division and collaborating with internal and external teams (merchants, banks & partners) to bring the strategy into reality.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- You understand the advertising ecosystem, but love customer-first & business-first thinking.
- You are an energetic self-starter with the ability to work independently in a competitive and fast-paced environment.
- You are curious about metrics, execution processes, and macro trends in the advertising and fintech industries.
- You have an analytical and data-driven approach to day-to-day work.
- Problem-solving and detail orientation come naturally to you.
- You have a strong sales sense and have experience building and scaling advertising revenue.
- You have at least 15 years of experience in advertising sales with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of exceeding revenue targets and growing market share.
- Experience selling across multiple platforms and formats.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
Ideal Experience:
- Extensive experience in digital advertising sales, particularly with direct response and performance-based campaigns
- Hands-on experience with open internet and biddable platforms such as Meta, Google Ads, and programmatic advertising ecosystems
- Deep understanding of Performance Marketing metrics, attribution models, and optimization strategies
- Established industry connections with key decision-makers in the advertising, agency, and brand marketing sectors
- Experience bridging the gap between traditional advertising and data-driven performance marketing approaches
- Background in developing sales strategies that leverage first-party data and payment insights (preferred)
- History of successfully building and managing high-performing ad sales teams
