The Opportunity
The candidate who fills this role will be a subject matter expert within the Vision Finance team and the broader Group Benefits Pricing team. This position supports Vision Pricing for all Vision networks, including VSP and Versant's Davis and Superior offerings. This role will support the development of pricing strategies across all segments, ensuring alignment of the strategy with financial goals. Accordingly, this position develops and maintains a strong relationship with our Underwriting partners. This individual will be a key stakeholder in determining how to price for all non-lab, standard and ad-hoc service offerings by geographic market. Serving in this role, this individual will need to react to what the market is requiring in order to be competitive and determine whether changes to the strategy needs to be made. This includes making recommendations and providing the financial impact to alternatives.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Development and implementation of Vision pricing assumptions and pricing strategy in conjunction with Underwriting and CFO teams.
- Support of regulatory rate filings in Group Vision, with a focus on states that are more challenging from a regulatory perspective. Support of Single Case Rate Filings by providing Actuarial Opinions and supporting analysis.
- Update and enhancement of multiple Vision Pricing Tools supporting the Regional and National Business segments.
- Support of renewal strategies through Profit Improvement Tool analysis.
- Involvement in customer specific pricing escalations.
- Development and maintenance of documentation on pricing strategies and underwriting guidelines for each segment, working in conjunction with the Underwriting team.
- Work with CFO Financial Projection team in developing plan assumptions (sales, persistency, renewal rate, claim trend, loss ratios, etc.) and revising them based on emerging experience and feedback from market segments.
- Work with Network Development team to analyze and make financial recommendations on Versant Health's network offerings, including lab model contracts, retail relationships, and provider fee schedules.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA).
- Advanced technical skills and modeling capabilities: Advanced MS Excel, including Visual Basic programming, Alteryx and Access.
- Advanced ability to clearly and concisely present insights and recommendations from complex analyses.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Extensive knowledge of financial/statistical concepts, principles, and practices.
- Extensive analytical, consulting, interpersonal, time management, and project management skills.
- Drive to improve status quo tools and processes.
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, data science, or commensurate work. experience in insurance or financial environment with large data set analysis/modeling background.
What Can Give You an Edge (Additional Skills)
- Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) and/or Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
- Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners.
- Familiarity with vision or health insurance products.
- Proficiency in pricing Group coverages.
- Familiarity with internal MetLife Underwriting systems and data warehouses, e.g. iMPAQS, MARS, Datamart, etc.
- Track record of creatively solving problems involving financial elements.
- Strategic mindset and passion to recommend next steps in pursuing business objectives.
- Familiarity with or desire to learn SQL and Python, as well as modern data software, including Power BI and visualization tools.

The salary range for applicants for this position is $110,000-146,200.
