As a Pricing Actuary, you will be responsible for developing rates for life products, including Whole Life, Term, Universal Life, and associated riders, and you will play a critical role in many aspects of product design and development from ideation to implementation. You will also support the work of the Compensation Actuary.
You are:
A self-motivated problem solver who can work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment, able to take ideas from the product team and turn them into products and features that are feasible from a financial, practical, and legal perspective. You are comfortable working with models and know or are willing to learn APL (A Programming Language).
You have:

FSA (or near FSA) designation from the Society of Actuaries

5 years of relevant experience preferably in areas such as pricing, ALM, EC, or CFT modeling and reporting

Knowledge of life insurance products (Whole Life, Term, Universal Life, or Variable Universal Life) and structures
-
Leadership and people management skills
-
Ability to work independently and lead multiple projects in a collaborative team environment

Proficiency with analyzing data and modeling (APL experience preferred but not required)

Strong Microsoft Office Skills (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)

Knowledge of NY compensation law 4228 a plus
You will:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support design and pricing of existing and future life products, including support of filing, implementation, and testing
-
Maintain pricing models in partnership with modeling teams, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory standards
-
Lead or contribute to projects related to new product development and enhancements to existing life products and offerings.

Support other areas of the individual life department, such as field compensation, dividend development, and inforce management
-
Provide technical guidance and expertise on pricing assumptions, methodologies, and best practices
-
Work closely with senior leadership to align product design and pricing with overall business objectives

Perform ad hoc analysis and provide actuarial support to cross-functional teams
-
Communicate the results to senior leaders through well-organized and documented spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, memos, and emails
Reporting Relationships:
You will report to the Lead Actuary heading Life Pricing, who reports to Guardian’s Head of Life Insurance and Annuity Solutions.
Location and Work Arrangement:
Preferred locations for this position include: New York, NY; Bethlehem, PA; and Holmdel, NJ. The work arrangement will be hybrid (3+ days per week in a local Guardian Office).
Salary Range:
$148,940.00 - $244,685.00
The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
