Job Responsibilities and Requirements
With supervision, the Actuarial Student plays a key role in supporting actuarial valuations, financial reporting, and risk assessment for Group Employee Benefit lines of businesses.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the calculation and analysis of reserves for Group lines of businesses, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS, Statutory)

Prepare financial reports, exhibits, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and auditors

Assist senior actuaries with key assumption analysis and assumption setting process

Develop and maintain actuarial models used for valuation and forecasting

Assist in developing and testing new loss reserving techniques to improve accuracy and efficiency in actuarial processes

Monitor emerging industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact valuation assumptions and methodologies

Work closely with cross-functional teams including Financial Planning & Analysis, and pricing actuaries to provide valuation insights and recommendations

Continuous progress on actuarial exams.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Related Experience:

Relevant Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science or other programs focused on quantitative analysis required.

Completion of 1-3 Society of Actuaries exams.

Skilled in spreadsheet and database software usage.

Ability to consolidate large amounts of data to help identify key findings.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to read and interpret complex charts and statistics from printed sources.
The expected hiring range for this position is $69,890.00 - $93,300.00 annually for work performed in the primary location (Philadelphia, PA). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
