Job Description

Overview:

Working alongside the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing most day-to-day financial operations of the Division, primarily focused on the Housing Operations, while ensuring consistency, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards in financial reporting. They will monitor, analyze, and report on most areas of accounting within the business including monthly and quarterly financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, job costing, project budgeting, project basis and cost of sales reconciliations in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company’s policies and procedures.  This role interacts with multiple departments and supports the business as necessary.

Key Deliverables:

• Detailed preparation/review/analysis of transactions including lot purchases, home sales, limited lot sales, basis allocations, forecasting and budgeting.

• Assigned internal and external ad-hoc reporting deliverables on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis (cash flow analysis, financing, compliance, etc.) ensuring all deliverables are accurate, timely and within company policy.

• Lead the development and execution of any systems enhancements, and any additional housing systems on an ongoing basis including: enhancements to current systems including design, maintenance, communication, implementation and reporting.

• Assist with internal and external audits of company financial statements and transactions

• Develop accounting staff through training, mentoring, decision making and monitoring.

• Review of work from Accountants and AP staff

• Manage month-end-close process, payable process, etc

• Prepare and submit all Housing Builder Profitability Reports to Land Sellers

• Manage PAPA reporting and payment timelines across various housing projects and relationships.

• Coordinate and assist with audits of Builder Profitability Reports

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting

• CPA a plus

• 4-6+ years accounting experience focused in homebuilding

• Leadership experience managing accounting team preferred

• Strong communication skills and team player mentality

• Strong organization skills

• Solid accounting fundamentals

• Superior data management skills

• Experience with Inform XL and other data management tools

• Proficient in Excel
