POSITION SUMMARY
The Los Angeles Refinery Accounting Manager is responsible for accounting and budgeting activities for the Los Angeles Refinery and the Watson Co-Gen facility. In addition to the responsibilities listed below, this position will be expected to assist accountants and business partners in troubleshooting and resolving day-to-day issues. This position interacts with refinery and co-gen personnel, including refinery management as well as other refineries, Findlay Refining and Findlay/SAT accounting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensures that personnel, processes, procedures, and systems are in place to effectively and accurately account for their respective team's area of responsibility within Operations Accounting.

Sets goals and metrics for the section and monitors progress towards their completion. Develops and coach's employees on performance of assigned duties.

Actively participates in the monthly accounting closeout, performing reviews and offering guidance on various accounting topics. Reviews and approves significant journal entries and reconciliations in accordance with Controller's policies as appropriate.

Works collaboratively with other organizations and personnel to resolve issues. Provides technical guidance as needed.

Ensures internal controls are established and executed as designed. Monitors controls to verify effectiveness and compliance with SOX requirements.

Ensures that Internal and External Audit requests are fulfilled timely and accurately.

May coordinate the data collection for the bi-annual Solomon Benchmarking Survey and prepare the required analysis on the results as appropriate
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
-
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

Eight (8) years of Accounting experience required.

Advanced/Expert experience in Microsoft Excel is required.

3 years of experience working with a large ERP is required. (e.g. SAP, Oracle, etc.)

Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and communicate insights effectively.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to make informed decisions in a dynamic environment.

Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to leadership.

Proven experience in financial forecasting and business planning.

Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
