SpyCloud is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Intern to join our Accounting team as part of our Summer Early Talent Program! This 9-week hybrid internship in Austin, Texas provides hands-on experience with tax compliance, financial record-keeping, and accounting systems such as NetSuite and Avalara. This role will support the team in maintaining compliance with IRS and sales tax regulations, managing financial data, and improving overall workflow efficiency. This opportunity is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to gain practical accounting experience in a dynamic business environment.
Internship Details:
- Required Hybrid Schedule: In-Office Wednesdays at our South Congress office (additional in-office days may be requested by your team)
- Dates: June 4 - August 6
- Hourly Rate: $20/hr
What You’ll Do
Collect and Upload Vendor 1099s
- Ensure compliance with IRS regulations by accurately tracking and reporting payments to 1099-eligible vendors.
- Gain hands-on experience in tax compliance and vendor management.
Check NetSuite Customer List for Tax-Exempt Customers
- Verify customer tax-exempt status to maintain accurate sales tax records.
- Learn how to navigate NetSuite and understand sales tax implications in accounting.
Check Avalara Exempt Customers List, Collect Missing/Expired Exemption Forms
- Ensure compliance with sales tax laws by updating exemption documentation.
- Develop skills in tax compliance, document collection, and database management.
Audit NetSuite and Avalara SKU Lists, Deactivate Old SKUs
- Maintain data integrity by ensuring accurate product information in financial and tax systems.
- Gain experience in system audits, data analysis, and inventory classification.
Expensify First Approver
- Review and approve employee expense reports to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Learn about expense management, internal controls, and fraud prevention.
Fixed Asset Spreadsheet to NetSuite Audit
- Reconcile fixed asset records in NetSuite with supporting documentation.
- Gain exposure to fixed asset accounting and financial record-keeping.
What we’re looking for:
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (NetSuite, Avalara, Expensify preferred).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
