Archive is the leading technology platform for branded resale. The company works with more than 50 global brands including The North Face, Diane von Furstenberg and New Balance, to develop innovative resale programs that keep products out of landfill.
We are looking for an experienced accounting professional to join our growing startup as our Director of Accounting or Controller (depending on level of experience). In this role, you will be responsible for managing the company's accounting operations, implementing and overseeing internal processes, and overseeing reporting internally, to investors, for audits, and reporting to governmental and tax authorities in the U.S. and where we have international operations.
About the role
- Serve as the leader of our accounting team
- Act as the main point of contact for the finance and accounting teams at brands, investors, and other stakeholders
- Report on financial performance to brands, resellers, investors, and other stakeholders
- Oversee customer and company transactions, and ensure the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions
- Develop and own financial models (Income Statement, Cash Flows, Balance Sheet) to ensure an accurate and up-to-date forecast of company’s financial outlook and to support future decision making
- Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, including banks, auditors, and tax consultants
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations, including preparing and filing tax returns, and advising leadership on tax implications of business decisions
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's growth and profitability
- Location: US-Based. Remote, with some travel for in-person collaborative work. We also have an office in NYC for those who prefer to work in office.
About you
- You are excited about financial statements and are proficient with accounting and finance related software, as well as Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
- You are extremely organized with strong attention to detail
- You have an analytical mindset and are able to pick up technical concepts quickly
- You are deeply self-motivated and excited to be one of the first hires at an early startup
- You’re excited about joining a small, early-stage team and are willing to wear many hats and work creatively to improve brands’ business and experience with us.

Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field
- 5-10 years of work experience, ideally within in corporate finance and/or accounting (CPA or work towards a CPA is a plus)
- Proficient with accounting and finance related software, including Quickbooks, as well as Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial statements historically and projecting financial scenarios into the future
- Demonstrated project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects at a time
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
The expected annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $190,000 . Compensation varies based on a variety of factors which include (but aren’t limited to) such as role level, skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, location, and experience. In addition to base pay, certain roles are eligible for equity as well, and all employees are eligible for a full benefits package including employee and dependent healthcare and 401(k) enrollment.

The team is currently remote-first with a hub office in NY and optional in-person work for those located in the area. We have company offsites twice a year to bring the full team together in person, and occasional travel is expected as part of the job.
