Accounting Analyst

Role Purpose

This role is a permanent position within the General Ledger Accounting team in Belgium and will report into the Accounting Manager.  Team responsibilities include General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable, Tax Accounting and Reporting, Statutory and Regulatory Reporting (including Solvency II), all relating to the Cigna International Health Services (CIHS broker) entities located in Belgium, Malaysia, Kenya and US.

The vacant role will work on Companies which are controlled and managed by the Antwerp Finance team and will include a mixture of accounts payable, general ledger, tax, intercompany and audit support.  The successful candidate will also gain exposure to month end reporting and international tax submissions.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Accounts payable:

• Processing of general supplier invoice payments (review of invoice details, review of invoice approvals, entering payments into the different payment systems, providing proof of payments, keeping track of changes to be made to the authorities’ framework for approvers of invoices).
• Allocation of general supplier invoices in the accounting purchase journal
• Processing of employee expense payments in Concur/Oracle or the Cigna payments tool
• Allocation of employee expenses in the accounting employee expense journal
• Booking of Concur expense transactions in Unit 4 Agresso (accounting software) and reconciliation/elimination with the data in Oracle

Intercompany entries:

• Review and approval of the monthly intercompany recharges out and settlements in the Virtual Trader Oracle system prepared by the Finance team in India
• Assistance in the reconciliation process of Virtual Trader intercompany entries in Oracle with local books in Unit 4 Agresso
• Assist the team during the month-end closing with preparation, booking and reconciliation of various intercompany recharges

Other:

• Work with the Senior Lead Analyst and Accounting Manager within the team to ensure audit deliverables are prepared and submitted in line with expectations
• Cross train on specific areas of accounting and month end/quarter end procedures to ensure full succession planning and coverage can be achieved within the team (e.g. monthly bad debt reporting, assistance with quarterly Solvency II reporting, etc.)
• Preparation and submission of weekly withholding tax and withheld VAT returns to the Kenyan Revenue Authorities (KRA)
• Processing of all other payments in relation to payroll and tax for the entities in Malaysia and Kenya   
• Cash planning for the CIHS entities in Malaysia and Kenya. Processing of intercompany fundings to the bank accounts of those entities to ensure all local payments can be timely processed (e.g. vendors, payroll, Concur, tax, medical claims settlements, etc.)

Key Skills and Knowledge

Strong experience Required

• Good excel skills and some experience of Oracle or similar General Ledger packages would be advantageous.
• Financial analysis skills with the ability to take the initiative in developing a strong understanding of the underlying business.
• Strong reporting and analytical skills with ability to create and improve reporting packs and methodologies with some support.
• Confidence to deal with internal stakeholders and ability to work with a cross functional team.
• Ability to juggle priorities and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
• Customer Focus – dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers, good at building effective relationships and gaining trust and respect.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
