ROLE OVERVIEW:
Accurately maintains the organization's financial records and transactions (i.e., daily ledger entries, etc.). Performs accounting procedures and reviews recorded transactions for accuracy and validity to aid in the monthly, quarterly and annual closings and/or consolidations. Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial reports and accounting statements.
Key Responsibilities
- Complies with all local, state, federal and government accounting and financial regulations.
- Compiles and maintains journal entries in computer system.
- Reconciles general ledger accounts and reviews general ledger trial balance for accuracy.
- Reconciles and maintains key balance sheet accounts.
- Recommends and presents standard internal accounting policies and procedures.
- In compliance with SOX, prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation and closing activities.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial information to be distributed to management.
- Investigates and resolves variances in reporting.
- Supports the schedule and requests of external auditors.
- Interacts with other functional areas within the company, researching and resolving inquiries.
- Assists in the preparation of the Annual Report.
- Assists in the preparation and filing of information with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- Duties may focus on maintaining the fixed asset system. Aids in the monthly, quarterly and annual consolidation process for both tax and Corporate Controllers department. Completes fixed asset analyses of operations and accounts.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Typically possesses a Bachelors degree in Accounting with 0-2 years of experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Solid understanding of the accounting field.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to work effectively, independently and in a team environment.
