Job Summary:
Federal Contract Accounting Experience is required to be considered for this position.
The Accountant IV-CSMV is responsible for preparing and reviewing complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and government contracting regulations (FAR/DFARS). This role requires experience in Deltek Costpoint and federal cost accounting to ensure compliance with government cost principles and accurate reporting on federal contracts.
Essential Functions:
- Prepare and review complex financial statements, including regulatory financial statements and government contract reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP, CAS, FAR, and DFARS
- Analyze trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to assist in forecasting and compliance with federal contract cost accounting standards
- Initiate, prepare, and calculate complex internal/external payment requests for federal and commercial contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and federal regulations
- Evaluate and improve internal accounting processes to ensure adherence to federal cost accounting regulations and organizational financial goals
- Lead initiatives around improving internal controls, cost allocation methodologies, and financial reporting for government contracts
- Ensure compliance with federal audits (DCAA, OIG, GAO) and reporting requirements, coordinating responses to government audit inquiries
- Research existing and new federal regulations, changes in CAS, GAAP, and FAR, and document their impact on accounting transactions, journal entries, and financial reporting
- Lead implementation of new accounting procedures and accounting system enhancements, particularly within Deltek Costpoint
- Prepare reports to ensure timely and accurate filing of internal and external financial reports for government contracts
- Support indirect rate calculations, cost pool allocations, and incurred cost submissions (ICS) for government contracts
- Review and respond to ad-hoc requests for financial information, schedules, and compliance analysis related to government contracts
- Mentor and coach new associates, fostering knowledge of federal cost accounting standards and best practices
- Safeguard the financial assets of the company through strong internal controls and compliance oversight
- Perform any other job related instructions as requested
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
- Post-graduate degree is preferred and provides credit for one (1) year of related experience
- Minimum of six (6) years of experience in accounting/finance required, with at least three (3) years in federal cost accounting (CAS, FAR, DFARS compliance)
- Experience with Deltek Costpoint (minimum 2 years) is required
- Government contracting, managed care, or healthcare industry experience is preferred
- Experience with a large ERP system is preferred (Deltek Costpoint, Oracle, SAP, or similar)
- Federal Cost Accounting & Costpoint experience is required
Competencies, Knowledge and Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Federal Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), FAR/DFARS, and indirect rate structures
- Familiar with government contract accounting principles, including cost pools, allowable/unallowable costs, incurred cost submissions, and indirect rate calculations
- Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint is required, with the ability to generate reports, manage project accounting, and ensure compliance with federal reporting standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess complex financial data and ensure compliance with government cost principles
- Ability to interpret and apply government regulations, including FAR, DFARS, DCAA audit requirements, and OMB circulars
- Experience leading and directing government contract audits and compliance reviews
- Strong knowledge of internal controls, cost allocation methodologies, and financial compliance
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with senior management, auditors, and government agencies
- Ability to work independently and make critical financial and compliance decisions
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, advanced formulas) and financial modeling
Licensure and Certification:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) is preferred and provides credit for one (1) year of related experience
- Deltek Costpoint certification is preferred
Working Conditions:
- General office environment; may be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Compensation Range:
$81,400.00 - $130,200.00

In addition to base compensation, you may qualify for a bonus tied to company and individual performance.
