Summary Generated by Built In

Flock Freight is a FreightTech company that uses patented technology to move freight more efficiently, reliably, and sustainably. The company’s guaranteed terminal-free truckload service, FlockDirect, finds the best options to pool freight among billions of possible combinations, optimizing routes while finding and filling trucks’ empty spaces. Shipments stay safe in a single truck, driven by a single driver, all the way to their destination allowing shippers to only pay for the space they need and enabling carriers to earn more from every linear foot of capacity — all while slashing carbon emissions by up to 40% compared to traditional shipping methods.

Flock Freight has been a Certified B Corp since 2020, meeting high social, environmental, transparency, and accountability standards to all of our stakeholders.

About the role:

As an Account Manager, you will own the growth and performance of an existing portfolio of accounts. You drive account strategy, capitalize on growth opportunities, and cultivate the adoption of Flock Freight’s shared truckload service. You handle all operational needs while ensuring your portfolio “ramps” effectively by digging into their supply chain with an appropriate yet aggressive attitude to maximize & understand the wallet share of the opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the communication from our Account Executives and begin building rapport with this new client. You take ownership of the relationship so the AE can continue selling and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Train new clients on the Flock Platform and help drive our “self-serve” initiatives from day 1. If they will not self-serve, you will quote their opportunities to ensure we are priced effectively, negotiating as needed, and winning the right freight mix. Pricing is something you have complete oversight of and ensure we maintain healthy win rates and margins. You have a well rounded knowledge of the spot market and pricing strategies.
  • Ensure we are properly set up and use the client’s TMS System effectively and to their standards. Decide if EDI/API capabilities are possible and identify a timeframe for implementation.
  • Identify scheduling needs for these new clients. Are the facilities FCFS? By Appt? Will they treat us like an LTL carrier and provide us flexibility and a designated dock door? You coach your designated Account Coordinator to execute on these scheduling needs so you can stay focused on higher-level execution items.
  • Determine the tracking needs of these new clients. What are their objectives around tracking and communication?  Will they require tech tracking? Ensure we are executing on their expectations and train your Account Coordinator to help deliver on these expectations.
  • Handle all customer escalations and drive issue resolution as quickly and decisively as possible. Proactively communicate all issues to your customers and mitigate risks.
  • Communicate with carrier management so they are aware of these new clients and their service expectations. Hot loads, peppers, must go - you own the load board for the freight that you win from your customers. You also work to buy flexibility on shipments where you can so that we are always set up for success.
  • Utilize sales and relationship building skills to uncover new lane opportunities and growth potential. You drive retention by ensuring they have the best experience living within our customer success department.
  • Uncover their KPI’s & Service Metrics and ensure we are consistently hitting the mark. We must execute on their expectations to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Build and host monthly business reviews as well as quarterly business reviews to uncover growth opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure we properly set up for a successful billing process for partnership with their accessorials agreements.

What We Do

Flock Freight is a sustainability-focused technology company reinventing North America’s $2 trillion freight market from offices in Encinitas, California and Chicago, Illinois.

We’re the first firm in the industry to build algorithms that pool shipments at scale, deliver freight with carbon neutral shared truckload service, and earn a B Corporation certification.

From an industrywide perspective, our goal is to eliminate freight waste and inefficiency. From a companywide perspective, our goal is to create a positive impact on our people and planet.

Our shared truckload solution, FlockDirect, drives these goals forward by setting a new standard of service for shippers, increasing revenue for carriers, and reducing the environmental impact of freight shipping. Our internal Impact teams drive these goals forward by holding us accountable and measuring our progress in areas like:
— Philanthropy
— Community engagement
— Employee engagement
— Diversity and inclusion

Backing from investors like SoftBank, Volvo Group Venture Capital, Susquehanna, Eden Capital, SignalFire, GV (formerly Google Ventures), and GLP Capital Partners tells us these goals are worthwhile.

It’s not just our investors who see the Flock Freight vision; in 2022, we earned a spot on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list. In 2021, CNBC named us to their Disruptor 50 list and Fast Company named shared truckload to their World Changing Ideas list. Our team is working to change the world for the better, and these awards tell us we’re on the right track.
