Celebrating our 90th year, Daubert Chemical Company is a profitable, family-owned specialty chemical manufacturer and a market leader in the brands that we sell to our end users and distributors. We are seeking an experienced industrial business-to-business sales professional who will sell industrial chemicals in the East Coast region. Responsibilities will focus on securing new accounts, identifying new strategic distributors for the company, servicing and growing our existing customer base of coatings and lubricant users, and supporting projects from initial contact through post-sales support. You will gain an in-depth knowledge of Daubert’s product offerings and customer processes to support and build sales territory. Performance is measured by ability to achieve annual revenue targets through execution of sales tools and processes, producing tangible and measurable results, and entering accurate and timely activity in the CRM.
What You Will Do
- Account Management: Address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and ensure high levels of satisfaction by providing exceptional support and service. Visit customers onsite to review quality and functionality of products on an ongoing basis, identify and assist the customer in troubleshooting any equipment or material problems, and follow all issues to resolution.
- Sales Execution: Responsible for the execution of sales strategies as defined by the business director. Identify and monetize new customers, successfully introduce new products as developed by R&D, achieve sales targets, and general market development. Enter sample requests in a timely manner and ensure successful evaluation by the prospective customer.
- Issue Resolution Accountability: Responsible for entering customer complaints, returns, and initializing credit requests on behalf of customers when issues occur.
- Prospect Identification: Utilize tools and available public information to identify prospective customers for current and new Daubert offerings.
- Reporting and Updates: Develop customer visit reports when required. Track high-level customer engagement activities in the Customer Relationship Management system (currently SalesForce.com).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with marketing, product development, and operations teams to ensure that distribution strategies align with overall business objectives and product offerings.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or engineering or a related technical background is required; formal college education combined with equivalent industrial sales experience will be considered, however a minimum 3 years of direct B2B selling experience, preferably in the coatings, lubricants, commodity, or specialty chemical industry is required.
- Detail-oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, as it relates to implementing strategic initiatives and measuring performance.
- Self-Starter: Demonstrated ability to execute established business plans that drive growth and focus on strategic strengths of Daubert.
- Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the industrial coatings, lubricants, and commodity/specialty chemicals markets. Experience working for/with chemical distributors. Knowledgeable of distribution dynamics, customer needs, and competitive landscape. Experience with sales of coatings into the transportation industry is strongly preferred.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build relationships, negotiate effectively, and influence at all levels. Ability to write reports and detailed proposals, etc.; effectively present information and respond to questions in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Technology: Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 productivity suite and Outlook are required. Familiarity with MS Teams, a CRM such as SalesForce is strongly preferred. AS400 is a plus.
- Overnight travel at or above 50% is required. Must always have a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
