Job Description:

The National Accounts Managing Account Executive is responsible for business development, client retention and the profitable management of a portfolio of group clients in the Calgary sales office. While not directly responsible for new sales, promotional activity and relationship management with advisors and consultants based in the Prairies Region is required. There are annual growth, retention, execution and profitability targets for this role.
Responsibilities:

  • Main Sun Life contact for clients, responsible for the overall client relationship with Sun Life
  • Responsible for the growth and profitability of an assigned block of business
  •  Manage the relationship with associated advisors and consultants
  • Ensure client/advisor needs are met through the delivery of value-added products and services

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience (5 or more years) in group insurance (sales, underwriting or consulting)
  • Minimum of 3 years proven client relationship success in the group market
  •  Possesses a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Skills:

  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with clients and consultants
  • Strong group insurance financial management capability relating to the various funding arrangements and drivers of profitability
  • Experience working with clients and executives within the client organization as well as with plan advisors
  • Knowledge of group benefit plan design including flexible benefit plans, underwriting and financial management, technology and Internet applications, benefit and plan taxation, communications and administration procedures, claims practices, government legislation and current developments in the benefits field
  • Integrity, customer focus, strong leadership and the ability to work successfully in a team environment
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Interpersonal savvy
  • Self-starter and results oriented
  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Adept at project management and handling of multiple priorities

Assets:

  • University degree
  • Professional designation such as CEBS

Notes/Unique Requirements:
Small amount of travel may be required with occasional overnight travel

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted.  It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.  In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.  Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
