Job Objective:
Monitors, maintains, and controls all deliveries of oil and gas into and out of “Harvest Pipeline” pipelines via Scada in accordance with 49 CFR Part 192 and Part 195. Proactively monitors and/or controls natural gas and/or oil pipelines, compressors, pressures, flows, and alarms during normal operations, abnormal conditions and emergency response. Qualifies for and performs field duties per the Harvest Field Foreman’s request, when not fully utilized by the control room.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Capable of training and qualifying as a Controller on the HKCR console(s)
  • Reviews prior shift daily operator log and conducts thorough handover.
  • Constantly monitors SCADA display.
  • Records oil and gas volumes and makes necessary changes as needed.
  • Monitors, controls, and re-routes natural gas flows, via the SCADA System, in order to maintain safe operations.
  • Maintains the integrity of the pipeline through remote control valve changes, instructing field personnel to make manual valve changes and starting/stopping compression as necessary.
  • Monitors and maintains process readings on log sheets, as required.
  • Acknowledges, responds to, and initiates corrections/action to alarms.
  • Communicate and work with other Harvest personnel and field Operators for daily operation of the pipeline systems.
  • Communicate and work with Producers and other Pipeline Control facilities on a daily basis, setting flow rates, scheduled shutdowns, emergency shutdowns, pressures and any other issue that may arise.
  • Compiles, prepares, and /or notes information including but not limited to: start/stop of receipt/delivery flows, field personnel call outs, nomination confirmation, changes in gas quality issues, SCADA communication problems, and emergency one call locates.
  • Complies with DOT regulations, especially Control Room Management 49CFR 192.631 and CFR 195.446.
  • Must complete DOT Operator Qualification Program for Gas and Oil System Operations.

Qualifications:

  • One (1) to three (3) years minimum oil, gas plant and pipeline experience, experience in both Gas and Liquid pipeline operations.
  • Working knowledge of a SCADA system.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
  • Ability to perform work assignments with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
  • Ability to accurately perform tasks.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with different trucking groups that transport products.
  • Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook).
  • Ability to make independent, rational decisions, as required.
  • Ability to work alone and highly motivated.
  • Self-starter, team player, and comfortable working under pressure.

Education Requirements:

  • Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability, and skill to handle the duties and responsibilities of the position.
