Your Role:

The internship operates at the intersection of cutting-edge science and technology. The chosen intern will assist in optimizing, integrating, automating, and maintaining the data backbone of the Drug Discovery department. The role will digitize and automate scientific workflows and record data in a cloud-based data lake. Workflows will be maintained and continuously improved to increase efficiency and integrity. The successful applicant will learn how to digitize physical R&D processes and transform them into validated, automated workflows. They will also learn how to extract, transform, and load data into a cloud data warehouse serving as a foundation for deriving novel-insights from complex data.

This role will be required to work on site 5 days a week as the majority of the work will be conducted in our laboratory facility.. #LI-Onsite

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use cloud-based software to capture and automate data workflows.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of novel R&D automation and digitalization.
  • Create digital twins for R&D department. Including experimental data, inventory data, and biochemical data.
  • Instrument integration techniques will be taught using real-world examples.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Role Requirements:

  • Education: Candidates pursuing computer science, chemistry, biology, biochemistry or biophysics are encouraged to apply. Preferred candidates will be rising seniors, first year graduate students, or stand-out rising juniors from an accredited U.S. college or university before beginning the internship.
  • Applicants should possess the familiarity and ability to code in an object-oriented language. Python, VBA, JavaScript, Java are preferred but not required.
  • Experience in cloud-based applications: RESTful API, Apache Tomcat, Revvity Signals, Hamilton Venus & Instinct, SQL scripting, JSON and XML data formats are all examples of what will be used during the internship. Candidates with a prior understanding of these applications will enjoy a more complete internship.
  • Experience in laboratory settings. Understanding of early R&D Drug-Discovery department is preferred but not required.
  • Confident in cloud-based computing and basic programming skills.
  • Some wet-lab experience (laboratory safety and liquid handling) preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential for success in Informatics.
  • Ability to understand, visualize, implement, and maintain digital solutions in a research environment
  • This internship is an intersection of two distinct fields, Biochemistry and Informatics. Applicants are not expected to be experiences in both; however, they are expected to be willing to learn and develop both fields during the internship.

Standard Requirements for all intern positions:

  • Ability to complete the entire 10-week program (from June 2, 2025 to August 8, 2025) and commit to 40 hours per week
  • Applicants must be available to work onsite weekly a minimum of 2 days/5 days for onsite positions.
  • Final presentation to manager & department team members at the end of the 10-week program (mandatory).
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the program.
  • Applicants currently enrolled in an accredited college/university for undergraduate, graduate or PharmD program. Must have completed at least two semesters at an accredited U.S. college or university before the start of the program.
  • Applicants must attend a school in a U.S. state or territory and be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Applicants must have a strong desire to pursue a career in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology field post-graduation.
  • Applicants must meet the minimum requirements of the role, both in Education (BS/MS/PharmD/Ph.D/etc.) and experience.
  • Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)

Compensation & Benefits:

The expected hourly rate for this position is $29.00/hour.
