Job Description
This position operates the wastewater treatment plant equipment for a soybean crushing and biodiesel plant. Primary function is the testing and monitoring of wastewater and boiler processes to ensure they are operated and controlled in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with government regulations and Company standards.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Daily testing of wastewater to ensure compliance with regulations
- Operates wastewater treatment / Boiler equipment properly following approved procedures
- Responds to equipment issues or alarms, investigates issues and initiates resolutions
- Performs all required inspection rounds. Collects water samples at several locations for testing.
- Sample and perform testing on boiler water treatment
- Records laboratory test data and generates reports as appropriate
- Ensures plant facilities are kept clean and free from all safety hazards, complies with company safety rules, and wears proper personal protective equipment (PPEs) as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
- Reports any issues to area supervisor.
- Provides general housekeeping to assure a safe and uncontaminated environment
- Completes miscellaneous tasks as requested by management
Qualifications
Required:
- Ability to work in a safe manner and follow all safety standards and procedures.
- Experience with industrial wastewater or boiler house operations.
- Knowledge of industrial water treatment, boiler house and wastewater processes
- Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures
- High school diploma.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Ability to learn and follow testing procedures.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and prioritize workload.
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software, (e.g., Excel and MS Word).
Preferred:
- Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator
- Knowledge of quality programs such as ISO 9000 or BQ 9000.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
