L.L.Bean is seeking a Windows Server Engineer that has experience and skills in supporting Windows platforms, conducting system software research, engineering implementation, and maintenance in support of business initiatives. This resource will be primarily accountable to provide operational support of Vulnerability Management processes for Windows Desktops and Servers. Responsibilities include the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of vulnerability remediation of Operating System patching and common applications in our environment.

The Engineer position will function in both implementation and support stages of remediations and will provide services in a variety of areas including, but not limited to system architecture & design, system administration, security, and networking.

This is a hybrid position, working three days onsite and two remotely, based at our corporate headquarters in Freeport, Maine.

Responsibilities:

  • Run and support vulnerability management scans across L.L.Bean systems using Tenable and SCCM.

  • Interpret vulnerability assessment results, implement remediation prioritization efforts, and report findings.

  • Validate proper mitigation controls are in place until remediation activities are complete when appropriate.

  • Benchmark golden images to ensure compliance against industry standards

  • Maintain patch and vulnerability management best practices to protect against the exploitation of known/detected vulnerabilities

  • Demonstrate strong communication and organizational abilities.

  • Develop working partnerships with stakeholders to ensure systems are effectively remediated

  • Provide engineering support and technical expertise regarding integrating new and existing Windows (Macintosh is a plus) technology into enterprise IT systems design and architecture.

  • Interface with internal customer and third-party teams for configuration, integration, and deployment activities.

  • Manage Windows operating systems, virtualization technologies (VMware), and application migrations

  • Develop and implement best practices and engineering standards for Windows Desktop and Server Security configuration and optimization.

  • Provide administration support for Windows Servers and Desktops.

  • Provide Windows platform problem resolution including providing support for Windows-related issues.

  • Responsible for 24x7 research and resolution of production system problems.

Education Level: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.
 

Years of Experience: 3+

English Level: Upper intermediate B2+

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with large-scale enterprise projects is highly recommended.

  • Experience with Security scanning tools such as Tenable.

  • Understanding of Shared Storage, Replication, load balancing, and WAN Technologies.

  • Experience with Active Directory, SCOM.

  • Experience with SCCM or JAMF.

  • Experience with PowerShell and VB Scripting.

  • Experience with Ansible, YAML or JSON is a plus.

  • Hardware: Blade and rack-mounted Servers.

  • Experience installing, configuring, supporting, and maintaining Windows Server Operating Systems (2012 r2, 2016, 2019) and 64-bit versions of Windows 2010 Operating System; VMware vSphere hypervisor.

  • Experience analyzing server hardware and application components and implementing server migration and consolidation activities.

  • Designing and leveraging automated server and application installation.

  • Deploying and supporting Active Directory and Group Policy.

  • Using WINS, DNS, DHCP, and IIS.

  • Working knowledge of IT Security and Firewall technologies.

  • Strong problem determination skills.

  • Strong communicator. Enjoys working with internal and external clients.

  • Able to support 7x24 on-call requirements.
