Job Description Summary
The Web Applications Developer I custom develops MVC web database applications, utilizing and integrating with a PHP-based Content Management System (CMS) within a Linux MySQL/MariaDB environment, with a strong emphasis on user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design. Each application requires database modeling, such as one-to-many relationship database tables. The Web Applications Developer I provides ongoing support and maintenance for both new and existing web applications, troubleshooting issues, implementing enhancements, and ensuring system stability. This position collaborates daily with department employees, faculty, and staff to gather requirements, address needs, and optimize web functionalities. Additionally, this position participates in team meetings, planning sessions, and cross-department discussions to align development efforts with application goals and regularly attends group meetings to present updates and demonstrations of developed applications.
Responsibilities

Custom develops MVC web database applications using PHP and the framework of the Content Management System (CMS).

Gathers and analyzes requirements from departments, faculty, and staff.

Ensures all new web functionality is accessibility-compliant and responsive.

Maintains and improves existing applications.

Troubleshoots and resolves issues with current web applications.

Provides ongoing support and maintenance.

Implements UI/UX design and responsive front-end development.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field — or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Two years of experience in web development/programming, working with relational databases to build dynamic web-based applications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) and MVC database architecture using MySQL/MariaDB.

Database table relationship modeling.

Experience with hand-coding PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.

Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and responsive web development.
-
Skilled in debugging, troubleshooting, and solving code issues.

Proactive mindset.

Strong communication skills, outgoing personality, and the ability to speak and present in front of large groups.

Ability to collaborate effectively with internal/external teams and the public in general.
Position Information
Salary: Commensurate with experience, up to $65,000 annually.
