Provides analysis, field services and technical support. Creates schedules, gathers data, tracks metrics, generates reports and develops presentations that show results and document conclusions of various analyses. Supports a team that ensures ERCOT meets its obligations in accordance with regulatory requirements to perform generation and transmission compliance inspections for Texas power plants and transmission facilities, including weatherization and maintenance and other field inspection and testing work as required. Witnesses black start tests, evaluates compliance with various regulatory and contractual requirements.
Participates in or leads reviews of market participant investigations of potential facility compliance deficiencies. Work may involve inspecting, providing inspection reports, identifying areas of potential non-compliance, requesting mitigation and corrective action, and verifying remedial work has been completed. Supports the development of software enhancements increasing the efficiency of team processes. These requirements are intended to ensure continuing reliable operations of the electric power grid under extreme cold and hot weather conditions. Examines, validates, and troubleshoots discrepancies related to data analyses and reports. Identifies areas for improvement to increase accuracy and efficiency in process workflows and performance measurements.
This position requires the Analyst to work independently and, within a team environment, to meet deadlines, and to interact professionally with internal and external personnel of various position levels from individual contributors to senior management.

Mid-Level Job Responsibilities:
- Communicates directly with, and provides technical assistance and support to, Market Participants to facilitate appropriate data submission and reporting
- Responsible for summary reporting on inspection/audit activities
- Creates and maintains compliance tools and collects and maintains data for the management and reporting of program data, including documentation of testing, inspection, notification of compliance/non-compliance and the progress of any corrective actions or re-inspections
- Develops tools and implements procedures to monitor and report as needed
- Demonstrates skills as an expert user of software applications and tools, spreadsheet programs, and database programs
- Creates dashboards as needed to collect and maintain data for reporting
- Suggest solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timeline of weatherization activities
- May participate in RFP’s and vendor management and/or consultant services
- Other duties as assigned
Senior Level Job Responsibilities includes above information plus the following:
- Creates, reviews, and updates departmental and organizational processes and procedures
- Ensures staff and/or vendors perform in alignment with policies and procedures
- Analyzes data to help formulate conclusions and recommendations for mitigation and/or escalation
- Accurately reports findings and recommendations and communicates results of analyses to appropriate stakeholders, including maintaining regular communication with the management team, the Legal department, and/or the PUCT as needed
- Performs root cause and trend analysis, and recommends process improvements
- Recognize upstream and downstream impacts
- Develops detailed solutions and improvements to procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and timelines of inspection activities
- Continuously improves working knowledge of the market, power systems, and various types of technologies used by Market Participants within the ERCOT market
- Evaluates compliance with various regulatory and contractual requirements Serves as a departmental representative on cross-functional teams, proactively providing technical, business, and policy guidance
- Leads analysis and reviews of market participant investigations of potential facility compliance deficiencies

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- Mid-Level Analyst – Requires a minimum of 1-year related work experience in project management, construction, heavy industry or the electric utility industry in excess of degree requirements
- Senior Level Analyst – Requires a minimum of 5 years related work experience in project management, construction, heavy industry or the electric utility industry in excess of degree requirements
- Lead Level Analyst – Requires a minimum of 8 years related work experience in project management, construction, heavy industry or the electric utility industry in excess of degree requirements
- Experience in project management, business analysis, and process analysis (all levels)
- Tech savvy with good working knowledge of MS Office Suite (all levels)
- Database experience (all levels)
Salary and level will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Related work experience in thermal power plant maintenance or operations (some ERCOT region experience preferred)
- Familiarity with power plant weatherization in thermal and intermittent facilities (all technologies preferred)
- Familiarity with inverter-based resource operations, limitations, and equipment
- Familiarity with transmission operation and equipment
- Vendor Management experience preferred
- ServiceNow software experience preferred
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Travel required. May travel up to 25% for multiple days at a time.
- Ability to walk, climb stairs and ladders, stand for prolonged periods of time, and access power plant, transmission facilities, and load resource facilities while wearing appropriate PPE
- Ability to gain clearance for escorted and/or unescorted access for plant visits and inspections as needed
- Possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, and a reliable personal vehicle
- Must have dependable access to the internet
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree: Engineering, Computer Science, Business Management, or related physical sciences field (Required)
- Advanced Degree: Engineering, Computer Science, Business or Engineering Management, or related field (Preferred)
- or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required
CERTIFICATION
- PE Professional Engineer (Preferred)
- CBAB Certified Business Analysis Professional (Preferred)
- PMP Project Management Professional (Preferred)
WORK LOCATION – Taylor, TX:
- Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at minimum 2 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management
- On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager
- Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.
