- Metlife Holdings - Products MetLife no longer actively markets in the US (Retail Life, Retail Annuities, Longer Term Care and Total Control Account)
The Opportunity
The VP of US Business Strategy & Execution will lead the execution of key strategic initiatives on behalf of Regional President, US Business and works across the full leadership team of the US Business (Group Benefits, Retirement and Income Solutions & MetLife Holdings).
The incumbent will advise the Head of US Business and SLT on the US business strategy as well as lead an internal team responsible for driving the execution of strategic initiatives and continuous development of the MetLife US Business strategy across the group.
How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future:
Strategy
- Collaborate across USB Senior leadership to develop an integrated strategy roadmap; work closely with key business, functional, and corporate partners (Strategy, M&A, etc.) and monitor progress against goals.
- Identify, cultivate, analyze, and prioritize business development opportunities.
- Manage the US Business strategic planning process and work closely with Finance on coordination with the US Business and Corporate Financial Planning process.
- Conduct research on strategic business issues affecting the company and lead regular, strategic discussions with the Head of US Business and SLT to promote the transfer of strategic ideas to operational decisions.
- Take an active role in ensuring the success of select strategic initiatives that cut across US Business lines and present significant opportunity or risk to the organization. Work with key stakeholders in translating these opportunities and threats into business initiatives.
- Develop analyses and formal business cases, as needed of the opportunities. This includes background on opportunity, strategic rationale, expected financial and non-financial benefits, potential deal/structural issues and other risks and associated mitigants.
- Continually refresh the US Business Strategy team by attracting, developing, motivating, and retaining a group of high potential professionals.
- Support MetLife's businesses and functions by being a source of talent.
Business Management
- Oversee key enterprise deliverables internally and externally for the Regional President and US Business Senior Leadership team.
- Ensure readiness for Executive Group meetings, Business Reviews, or similar strategic senior leadership sessions, including Board of Directors meetings in consultation with the Corporate Secretary, OCEO and Chief of Staff.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure readiness, facilitate, and participate as appropriate in leadership meetings, including Board of Directors and Executive Group meetings and Financial Reviews, etc.
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):
- Possess a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in Financial Services
- Proven success executing against significant growth strategies cross product/functions.
- Strong ability and desire to navigate cross functionally with various levels of management.
- Have proven experience in strategy development, execution and excellent analytical and financial skills.
- Have expertise in the Life Insurance industry in the United States. Specific subject matter expertise and experience in Employer Benefits space across product, distribution or technology is preferred.
- Possess effective and impactful written and verbal communication skills.
- Be an accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrixed environment and to exhibit the necessary gravitas in senior staff meetings.
- Have strong problem-solving skills in support of senior management in working through a path of strategy design to delivery.
- Strong quantitative measurement, budgeting, and management reporting and analytical skills.
- Undergraduate degree required, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

The salary range for applicants for this position is $213,200 - $284,300.
