Job Description:

The Vice President of Technology is responsible for leading the strategic vision, development, and execution of the company’s product portfolio. This role oversees two core functional areas: Value Stream/Product Management and Engineering (Sustaining and New Product Development). Key focus is driving the design and development of products that align with current and future customer needs.

Working closely with Sales, this position is central to gathering customer insights, understanding industry trends, and identifying emerging market opportunities. The Vice President will provide leadership to a cross-functional team, setting clear goals and expectations while fostering a culture of continuous innovation, customer focus, and excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Market and Customer Insight Development

  • Understand industry trends, technological advancements, and competitor activities to identify customer needs and inform new product opportunities.
  • Lead Voice of Customer (VoC) initiatives to ensure customer insights are captured and integrated into product development plans.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key customers, industry experts, and stakeholders to stay informed on industry shifts and future needs.

Strategic Market Positioning and Customer Support

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to develop effective product positioning, unique selling propositions, and differentiation strategies.
  • Partner with Sales to support customer-facing activities, providing technical expertise and product insights to support successful customer engagements.
  • Equip the Sales team with the necessary market intelligence, promotional tools, and product resources to enhance customer understanding and engagement.

Product Roadmap and Portfolio Management

  • Define and execute a comprehensive product roadmap that aligns with customer requirements, market demands, and technical feasibility.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration across Sales, Engineering, Operations, and other teams to ensure prioritized and strategic product development initiatives.
  • Ensure cohesive global alignment on the product roadmap to address customer needs consistently across regions.

Product Development and Project Leadership

  • Champion a structured approach to New Product Development (NPD), managing projects through the full lifecycle, from concept and design through to launch.
  • Guide engineering teams in designing and developing solutions that address real-world customer requirements while maximizing product robustness and ease of use.
  • Facilitate design reviews and align resources to ensure timely, high-quality project execution and development milestones.

Innovation and Product Differentiation

  • Identify and validate technical innovations that enhance product performance, reliability, and customer value, aligning with strategic objectives.
  • Champion a continuous innovation pipeline that supports product enhancements, features, and solutions tailored to meet the evolving needs of Machine Solutions' customers.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide direct leadership and guidance to a team of managers and professionals within Product Management, Engineering, and NPD functions.
  • Set team and individual goals, conduct performance reviews, and oversee the development and execution of professional growth plans.
  • Engage in Leadership activities such as talent acquisition, team building, conflict resolution, and fostering an inclusive and high-performance culture.
  • Ensure alignment of team members with department goals, company strategy, and individual career aspirations.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Successful launch of innovative products that align with customer needs and enhance market competitiveness.
  • Effective execution of product development projects that meet quality, timeline, and performance objectives.
  • High levels of customer satisfaction and retention through targeted product solutions.
  • Achievement of team development goals, talent retention, and consistent performance reviews aligned with company objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in project management, product development, manufacturing, or technical fields, with a strong track record of leadership.
  • Proven experience in managing cross-functional teams, setting clear goals, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate market insights into actionable product development strategies.

TRAVEL

Up to 50% to support customer interactions, industry events, and team collaboration.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands of the role involve prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer, and engaging in repetitive hand movements for tasks like typing or writing. Occasional standing, walking, and lifting objects up to 20 pounds may be required. This role may also include frequent use of standard office equipment such as printers, copiers, and telephones. Good vision and hearing are needed to perform tasks effectively and communicate with team members.

The work environment for this role is primarily an office setting located near a manufacturing facility. While the office is climate-controlled and typically quiet, occasional exposure to noise, vibrations, or odors from the nearby production area may occur. Employees may need to enter the manufacturing floor occasionally, requiring adherence to safety protocols, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
