General Role Overview: 

The Global VP/Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs will lead AstroPay’s global regulatory strategy, ensuring compliance, alignment and influence in a rapidly evolving fintech environment with a strong international focus. This executive role will oversee the company’s engagement with regulatory bodies, shape public policy initiatives and ensure seamless collaboration between the regulatory and legal teams across regions. With a focus on navigating diverse regulatory landscapes and aligning global operations with international standards, the VP will report directly to the CCO and work closely with internal leadership, the legal department, external stakeholders and local regulatory directors to drive global compliance excellence, align legal and regulatory strategies and foster relationships that enable sustainable business growth.

This role is critical to AstroPay’s mission of providing secure, borderless financial solutions by positioning the company as a thought leader in the fintech industry and maintaining strong, trusted relationships with regulators worldwide.

Primary Responsibilities & Expectations: 

Global Regulatory Leadership

  • Develop and oversee AstroPay’s global regulatory strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements across all regions.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to the CCO and executive leadership on regulatory matters, including risk management and emerging trends.
  • Lead the global team of Regulatory Directors, ensuring consistent and effective regulatory compliance in each jurisdiction.
  • Monitor global regulatory developments, assessing their impact on AstroPay’s operations, and ensuring the company stays ahead of compliance and public policy shifts.

Public Policy & Industry Advocacy

  • Build and execute a global public policy strategy to position AstroPay as a leader in the fintech industry.
  • Represent AstroPay in key industry associations, regulatory forums, and public policy discussions to advocate for the company’s interests.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to shape regulatory frameworks that enable innovation while ensuring consumer protection and compliance.
  • Engage with policymakers and regulators to establish AstroPay as a trusted partner in shaping the future of digital finance.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with regional Regulatory Directors, Legal, Compliance, and Product teams to ensure seamless integration of regulatory requirements into business strategies.
  • Partner with internal teams to proactively address regulatory risks associated with new products, services, and market expansions.
  • Align local regulatory initiatives with global business goals while ensuring adherence to regional nuances.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to the Regulatory Directors, fostering a high-performing, collaborative global regulatory team.
  • Drive alignment and consistency across regions, ensuring best practices are shared and implemented globally.
  • Build and develop strong relationships with internal leaders, creating a unified culture of compliance and proactive risk management.

  • Regulatory Expertise: Deep knowledge of international financial regulations, with a proven ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Public Policy Advocacy: Skilled in influencing public policy and representing company interests in regulatory and industry forums.
  • Leadership: Proven track record of building, leading, and mentoring high-performing global teams.
  • Collaboration: Strong ability to align and coordinate cross-functional teams across regions and disciplines.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Problem-solving: A proactive approach to identifying and resolving regulatory and compliance challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Relationship Management: Experience cultivating strong relationships with regulators, policymakers, and industry associations globally.
  • Experience & Qualification Requirements
  • Education: A law degree or relevant advanced degree (e.g., public policy, international law) is mandatory.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of senior leadership experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or public policy, preferably in fintech or financial services.
  • Global Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing regulatory and compliance frameworks across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Public Policy Knowledge: Strong understanding of global public policy trends impacting fintech and payments industries.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead and manage senior-level regulatory professionals across multiple regions.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience navigating the fintech, digital payments, or banking industries is highly advantageous.
  • Languages: Advanced proficiency in English is mandatory. Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
