What's the opportunity?

This is a full time position.

Dispel is seeking our first VP of Engineering to lead our engineering organization, help set technical strategy, and drive the execution of our product roadmap. You will work closely with the CTO in particular and the rest of the executive team to align engineering efforts with business objectives.

We are a 100% fully remote company (U.S. only). You are welcome to use our office in Brooklyn, New York City.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and scale engineering teams.
  • Build cross-functional alignment with other departments.
  • Set technical strategy and then execute upon it.
  • Oversee organizational goals, budgeting and resource allocation.
  • Drive organizational change and scaling.
  • Improve efficiency of the engineering team, for example through culture, data, or DX/Tooling improvements.
  • Lead technical due diligence and strategic planning for new initiatives.
  • Inform best practices procedures and make sure they are implemented and delegated.
  • Use data and other methods to provide clear operating picture to CTO.
Requirements
  • 10+ years of engineering experience where 5+ years of it should be at an advanced leadership level (think CTO, VP or Director level).
  • Generalist who is comfortable at many levels of abstraction and is unafraid of responsibility.
  • Should feel sense of accomplishment from seeing team firing on all cylinders and the members of it growing into more capable engineers.
  • Must be excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Should have experience from a high compliance environment, ideally FedRAMP.
  • Should understand and be able to give examples of different types of leadership and know when to use which one.
  • A passion for learning and gaining a deep understanding of how engineering does their work.

The U.S. pay range for this position is between $209,000 and $220,000/year with an expected Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) between $11,000 and $33,000/year (including bonus or commission). Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. Your exact offer may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
