The Opportunity: Syncro is seeking a VP of Engineering who will lead a team of highly skilled engineers and top notch managers. The primary focus will be to improve our operational excellence, especially in speed of delivery and strategic alignment.  You will drive the technical roadmap and facilitate the adoption of new technology.  In direct collaboration with Sales, Product, Customer Success, Technical Support and other teams, you will work hands-on to solve complex problems and remove roadblocks from your team. In our remote environment your excellent communication skills will be key in aligning the teams and driving them towards our shared goals. You will be reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Oversee the execution of our functional roadmap, creating plans to optimize efficiency and productivity for the team
• Set priorities for and assign tasks to the team, pivoting when necessary and reallocating resources when needed. 
• Dive deep into the internals of our system and recommend technical directions to Engineering Leadership
• Oversee DevOps best practices, ensuring smooth deployment and operation of our services
• Conduct regular 1-on-1s and build a culture of collaboration and excellence
• Manage external contractors as needed to complement internal resources and scale effectively
• Optimize system and cloud costs for both performance and efficiency as the company scales
• Communicate clearly and transparently the strategy, rationale and progress within the team and to stakeholders. Communicate as necessary with customers on complex topics
• Work cross functionally with leaders throughout Syncro
• Provide timely feedback and coaching to the team, investing considerable time to the development  and performance coaching of team members.
• Propose plans for various projects, including budget, resourcing, sizing, milestones, and timelines

Must have skills:

• 8+ years of senior management experience with a track record of scaling mid-sized engineering teams and growing team members into exceptional engineers and leaders
• 12+ years of software development experience in a modern technology stack
• Experience managing outsourced teams and projects alongside internal teams
• Experience managing global teams across multiple timezones 
• Experience in a SaaS and Scrum environment
• Incredible problem solving abilities while incorporating security, quality, scalability, and performance
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills with a demonstrated high degree of success
• Object Oriented programming knowledge and experience
• Solid grounding in all aspects of distributed systems and cloud native architectures
• Experience building and managing KPIs across the whole engineering organization

Nice to have skills:

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, React, .Net, Kubernetes, Postgres is a huge plus
• Experience in the IT space a plus
