The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Vice President of Data Engineering to lead our engineering organization in developing innovative platforms, optimizing data solutions, and fostering a culture of agility, accountability, and excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Development: Architect and scale resilient, high-performance platforms with a platform-first mindset, ensuring seamless integration across enterprise systems.

Cost Optimization: Lead initiatives to enhance the cost-effectiveness and performance of our Databricks implementation on Azure, balancing operational efficiency with technical robustness.

Data as a Product: Define and implement strategies to deliver data as a product, ensuring high-quality, accessible, and actionable data solutions that drive business outcomes.

Scaled Agile Leadership: Implement and lead Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or equivalent methodologies to enable alignment and collaboration across teams, ensuring scalable and timely delivery of initiatives.

Strategic Direction: Develop and execute a forward-thinking engineering strategy aligned with business goals, fostering innovation, operational excellence, and customer-centric solutions.

Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and accountability.

Financial Oversight: Manage and optimize budgets, ensuring alignment with financial objectives, including capital and operational expenditures, total cost of ownership, and resource planning.

Agile Delivery: Champion agile principles to accelerate delivery of business value with a focus on simplicity, quality, and innovation.

Experience Requirements:

Platform Expertise:10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles, with a proven track record of building and scaling enterprise-grade platforms.

Expertise in developing and delivering platform-first strategies to drive business efficiency and innovation.

Databricks and Cloud Optimization:

5+ years of experience working with Databricks on Azure, including cost and performance optimization at scale.

Data as a Product:

Demonstrated experience in defining and implementing strategies to deliver data as a product, including data governance, accessibility, and usability for business outcomes.

Scaled Agile Leadership:

5+ years of experience leading organizations using Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) or equivalent methodologies to achieve operational alignment and efficiency.

Team Leadership:

Proven experience managing and mentoring diverse engineering teams with a focus on fostering accountability, learning, and innovation.

Financial Acumen:

Strong experience managing budgets, including capital and operational expenditure, total cost of ownership, and resource allocation.

Industry Background (Preferred):

Experience in healthcare revenue cycle management or similar data-driven industries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Proven success in delivering high-quality, scalable, and innovative engineering solutions in complex environments.
  • Deep understanding of modern data platforms, cloud technologies, and advanced analytics practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
