VP Business Development - Field Based - USA
Position Information
Evotec is recruiting a dynamic and results-driven Vice President to join our Business Development team. In this role, the candidate will report to the Head of US Discovery BD. The candidate will be responsible for driving strategic partnerships with large pharmaceutical in the United States for Evotec. The individual will be responsible for signing multiple strategic deals annually, focused on Evotec’s multi-modality discovery partnerships through IND enabling studies.
Responsibilities:
Business Development is a key role for Evotec. The selected individual will be part of the Discovery Business Development team. Candidates must have a passion for innovation and collaboration and be able to both establish long-term relationships with partners and drive short-term revenue as well as. The individual should have experience and understand the requirements and challenges of drug discovery and development.
- Drive the overall business development strategy within the territory in close partnership with the EVP BD, therapeutic area and platform leadership teams
- Establish relationships with partners that accelerate research, development and commercialization of their innovative products leveraging Evotec’s best-in-class integrated research and development platform working collaboratively to establish long-term relationships
- To further establish Evotec as the partner of choice within the territory
- Bring strong leadership to a talented regional BD team while fostering their further growth and career development.
Skills and Abilities:
- A thorough understanding of the drug discovery and development paradigm across modalities (including small molecule, mAb, ASO etc)
- Demonstrated network, across pharma at a senior level
- Track record of success identifying, negotiating, and closing complex deals including research funding, milestones and royalties, and be able to execute multiple deals annually
- Experience achieving results with and leading cross-functional teams to drive creative solutions
- Ability to assess partner needs and craft recommendations through effective written and oral presentations
- Analytical skills; ability to read, analyze, and interpret data and produce reports and documents to support closing arguments.
- Self-motivated and strategic thinker capable of working within a fast pace, global, multi-national, multi-cultural organization
- A leader and team player with a passion for developing talent and working with diverse teams to delivery results by working collaboratively and influencing both internally and with partners
- Willingness and desire to learn and challenge the status quo
- Ability to assess partner needs and craft recommendations through effective written and oral presentations
- Financially savvy, able to maximize deal structures for the benefit of Evotec.
Qualifications:
- Minimum BSc, MSc or PhD preferable, in a Life Sciences discipline or other advanced degree (MBA)
- Greater than 10 years plus experience in a pharmaceutical/biotech company and/or management consulting and a minimum of 7 years plus proven business development experience with a proven ability to identify, lead, evaluate, and close complex negotiations and collaborations
- Demonstrated record of success in business development including large and complex partnership and/or licensing transactions with deal sheet to support.
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $170,000 to $235,000; Base salary offered may vary depending on the individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
