Abbott Diabetes Care Kilkenny
Abbott Diabetes Care has opened a new site, in Kilkenny, that is at the forefront of Diabetes care with the latest technology, to manufacture Freestyle blood glucose test strips and Freestyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Among Abbott Diabetes Care leading brands are the Freestyle Precision, Freestyle Lite and Freestyle Libre systems.

As a Vision Engineer, you will provide expertise and support to manufacturing processes. You will lead vision-related continuous improvement updates, support the sourcing, qualification, and maintenance of cutting-edge computer vision systems, and provide vision training for engineering personnel. This role will be based at our ADC Kilkenny site and may involve occasional travel for training and project implementation.
Key Responsibilities:

Support the design, implementation, and validation of Machine Vision projects (mainly Cognex Insight Spreadsheet environment) for existing and new manufacturing equipment.

Conduct code review/debugging of a wide spectrum of bespoke vision jobs/algorithms.

Implement software changes for vision systems.
-
Investigate issues and develop solutions for Machine Vision applications.

Perform characterization, optimization, emulation, and data analysis on proposed Vision jobs.

Collaborate with other internal functions (e.g., QA, Operations, Engineering).

Standardize best machine vision practices across the site.

Lead vision-related projects.

Provide vision training for engineering personnel.
Education and Experience:
-
Degree in Engineering or Science equivalent.
-
Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent is desirable.
-
Minimum 3 years of machine vision engineering work experience, preferably in a regulated high-volume automated manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated expertise with Cognex Insight hardware/software platform (spreadsheet environment) for at least 3 years.
-
Experience with optics, lighting techniques, troubleshooting/diagnostics, and vision algorithm development, with interfaces to PLC/HMI systems.

Extensive knowledge of vision tools such as histograms, edge tools, blob tools, OCR, logic, image processing techniques, and job profiling.

Completion of Cognex advanced spreadsheet training, Cognex Vison Pro, Designer and Keyence vision systems.

Good knowledge of data analysis/statistical methods.

Experience with GDP/GMP/GAMP.
