The Daily Dot seeks an experienced video editor to join the team on a contract basis. You will be expected to work on a variety of editing projects, from turning around timely news videos in a matter of hours to working on more long-form videos based on our original reporting, all while collaborating across the newsroom.
This is a fully remote, contract-based position.
Responsibilities:
- Adapt existing articles into short video scripts.
- Record and edit 2-3 short-form reels per week covering the Daily Dot’s trending internet culture stories.
- Incorporate original graphics and pre-built .mogrt templates into original content while maintaining the Daily Dot’s brand guidelines.
- Record clear and professional voice-overs as needed for reels.
- Incorporate feedback in a timely manner and revise videos as needed to maintain quality, accuracy, and tone.
- Gather and organize necessary video, audio, and graphic assets for 1-2 long-form YouTube videos per week.
- Edit, mix, and caption long-form videos based on provided voice-over and script.
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of proven experience in video production and editing.
- Fluency in Adobe Premiere Pro
- Basic proficiency in After Effects (masking, 2D animation, Premiere workflows, etc).
- Basic proficiency in audio mixing.
- Proficiency in resizing and reformatting Photoshop and Illustrator graphics for video a plus.
- Comfortable working under tight deadlines with quick turnaround times.
