Vertical Strategy Manager, Hospitality, Unified Commerce

As the Vertical Strategy Manager, Hospitality, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing Adyen’s growth strategy within the hospitality sector. This is a global role with a primary focus on the EMEA region, and the opportunity to contribute to strategic projects worldwide as they become a priority. You will be the voice of the customer for lodging, rental cars, and cruises, driving product innovation and market expansion. This role requires a deep understanding of the hospitality industry and a passion for payments, combined with exceptional strategic thinking, a proven track record of driving commercial success, a strong bias for action, and a love of data-driven decision making.

What you'll do 

  • Define the Strategy and Plan:
    • Strategic Leadership: Define and champion the growth strategy for the Unified Commerce Hospitality Vertical, influencing stakeholders across Adyen (Partnerships, Marketing, Commercial, Product) to ensure successful execution. This includes setting ambitious goals, identifying key opportunities, and developing actionable plans to achieve them.
    • Customer Advocacy: Deeply understand the needs and challenges of hospitality businesses, acting as a trusted advisor and advocate for lodging, rental cars, and cruises. Analyze vertical-specific customer behavior to identify opportunities for product and service innovation and differentiation. This involves conducting market research, gathering customer feedback, and collaborating with product teams to develop solutions that meet the unique needs of the hospitality industry.
    • Market Analysis: Develop and maintain customer segmentation to identify untapped opportunities for revenue growth and market expansion within the hospitality vertical. This includes analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and customer data to identify high-potential segments and develop targeted strategies.
  • Manage the Vertical to meet Growth Objectives:
    • Commercial Enablement: Collaborate closely with Sales to drive commercial execution, providing them with the tools, knowledge, and support needed to win deals and grow existing accounts. This includes developing sales motions, creating compelling sales materials, and delivering training and knowledge sharing sessions.
    • Competitive Advantage: Partner with Product & Strategy teams to develop compelling sales motions, impactful selling materials, and competitive insights to empower commercial teams. This involves staying ahead of industry trends and competitor offerings to ensure Adyen maintains a competitive edge.
    • Partnership Management: Support Commercial and Product Partnerships to ensure Adyen maintains best-in-class integrations with key players in the hospitality ecosystem. This includes building and maintaining relationships with key partners, identifying new partnership opportunities, and collaborating on joint go-to-market initiatives.
    • Pricing & Packaging: Provide pricing guidance and packaging strategies that optimize profitability and market share within the Hospitality Vertical. This involves analyzing market dynamics, customer needs, and competitor pricing to develop attractive and competitive offerings.
    • Industry Expertise: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes impacting the hospitality sector, proactively identifying strategic opportunities and risks. This includes attending industry events, monitoring industry publications, and engaging with thought leaders.

Who you are

  • Industry Experience: 5-7 years of experience in consulting, strategy, payments, or related strategic go-to-market roles.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry is required, along with a genuine passion for the sector.
  • Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to develop and execute product and go-to-market strategies. This includes experience in market analysis, competitive assessment, and strategic planning.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, collaborate effectively, and create compelling marketing and sales collateral. This includes the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making. This includes experience in data analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
  • Adaptability: Ability to navigate ambiguity and change in a fast-paced environment. A bias for action and an entrepreneurial mindset are highly valued.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Enthusiasm for collaborating with cross-functional partners across Product, Design, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Culture Champion: A desire to contribute to Adyen's positive and inclusive work environment.
