Job Description:

  • The Factory Information System Specialist (FISS) is responsible for ensuring a successful launch of the Factory Information System (FIS) for new and kitted programs found within the Client Vehicle Process Engineering (VPE) environment during all phases of program launch. 
  • Participation and support in the implementation of FIS standards and specifications during the design through the launch phase of new products are fundamental to this position.
  • The FISS is responsible for supporting Line Integrators in understanding the Client VPE CARE FIS Standards and providing key timed deliverables throughout all phases of the launch.
  • The FISS position is also tasked with supporting regular team meetings to review progress and identify potential obstacles, monitoring projects to meet their technical and business objectives, review of lessons learned, solutions to current and past issues, tracking and updating action registers and coordinating work schedules.    

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the execution, deployment and integration of Factory Information System (FIS) across multiple launches
  • (Workbook) Develop FIS event maps, defining common message format and structure
  • Provide Integration Support
  • Develop User Guidelines and design integration support
  • FIS Logic
  • Support the development of trigger logic to drive messages based on system configuration
  • Assist with research and development
  • Client lessons-learned evaluation
  • Research problems experienced in the field (using reference files)
  • Provide standard solutions
  • Provide Proof of Concept

Support VPE Conveyor, Automation and Robotic Engineering program goals during launch to include, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring that build and process is following Client standards
  • Leading/Supporting Line Integrators
  • Represent CARE on the project Application Committee and/or Subcommittees
  • Support VPE process at plant with Controls Applications
  • Support CARE Controls Project Lead (CPL) activities
  • Through-put improvements
  • Cycle time improvements
  • Downtime resolution
  • Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) reduction
  • Provide FIS reports, as required
  • Provide management, tracking, resolution, follow up and reporting on the following:
  • Action Register (AR)
  • Open issues
  • New issues
  • FIS Campaigns
  • Timeline goals
  • Line Integrator progress
  • System audits during all phases of the project
  • Interpret findings and implement corrective actions
  • Lessons learned
  • Other matrixes, as required
  • CARE Support for Line Integrators
  • Participate in weekly meeting between Line Integrators, subcontractors and VPE teams (as required) on responsible areas
  • Assist the Line Integrator engineering and execution staff with understanding the standards and expectations of FIS

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with Factory Information System (FIS) 
  • Experience with Rockwell PLCs 
  • Understanding of HMI Development and FactoryTalk View
  • Manufacturing automotive process engineering knowledge
  • Experience with robotics
  • Demonstrated team leadership and communication skills
  • Self-directed and motivated to implement change within the direction and scope of Client
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present to Senior Management
