Role Overview:

The UX Intern will support the development and maintenance of PDI’s Design System while gaining hands-on experience in enterprise-level UX design workflows. This role provides exposure to design documentation, component standardization, usability research, and cross-functional collaboration. The intern will work closely with designers, product teams, and stakeholders to enhance design consistency, user experience, and brand alignment across PDI’s products. This is an excellent opportunity for a UX-focused student looking to gain practical experience in design systems, research, and usability within a large-scale organization. This internship will provide the opportunity to gain real world experience to add to your portfolio. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design team to implement and evolve the PDI Design System, ensuring consistency in UI components and guidelines.
  • Assist in maintaining and organizing Figma component libraries, ensuring adherence to brand standards.
  • Create and update design documentation in Figma, including component specifications, usage guidelines, and design patterns.
  • Support product team members and stakeholders by participating in design thinking sessions and documenting insights.
  • Assist in auditing existing designs to ensure compliance with brand guidelines and design system standards.
  • Help create and maintain standardized persona documentation to support user research and UX strategy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to bridge the gap between design, development, and product management.
  • Contribute to usability testing and user research efforts, gathering insights to improve design decisions.
  • Assist in developing design assets and UI elements for product teams based on research and stakeholder input.
  • Support the continuous improvement of workflow processes to scale UX efforts across PDI.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Information Science, Digital Design, UX Design, or a related field.
  • Targeted graduation between December 2025 and May 2026.
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Familiarity with Figma and design system components.
  • Strong visual design and documentation skills.
  • Basic understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices.
  • Have a portfolio of your work example or school projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience creating design documentation, style guides, or component specifications.
  • Knowledge of user research methodologies, persona development, and usability testing.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams with designers, developers, and product managers.
  • Strong attention to detail and an organized approach to maintaining design assets.
  • Developing a project portfolio that demonstrates UX design, thinking, and processes.
