Treasury Controller
Job Title: Treasury Controller
Department: Group Treasury
Reporting To: Group Treasurer
Working Pattern: Full-time. Flexible working arrangements will be considered
Location: Derby – minimum 3 days per week in the office
Role purpose
You will have primary responsibility for the reporting and control activities of the Group Treasury function. You will lead and develop a team to provide financial analysis to support decision-making in treasury activities of currency, cash, funding, risk management and financial reporting. You will be the technical accounting expert for the reporting of financial instruments in the Group accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of the Treasury related accounting results and forecasts for the Group's reported and underlying position for derivatives and interest. This includes UK treasury and overseas subsidiary treasury-related transactions.
- Deliver statutory reports at mid-year and year-end to comply with IFRS requirements.
- Provide Treasury related accounting advice to business units.
- Manage Group Treasury’s relationship with the external auditors.
- Proactively assess the treasury-related impacts of any change impacting the statutory reporting of derivatives, for example changes in accounting standards, financial reporting council publications or the introduction of new risk management products.
- Provide analysis to support decision-making in FX, commodity, credit and interest rate risk management and cash management.
- Ensure Group interest rate and FX forecasts are complete and accurate, and drivers are understood. Provide insight-led analysis for management.
- Responsible for the control and risk monitoring framework of the Group Treasury function.
- Provide insightful reports for the Financial Risk Committee, Audit Committee and Board as required, including annual review of Long Term Planning Rate.
- Overall responsibility for Group Treasury policies, ensuring these are updated as required.
- Lead on the accounting impacts of M&A transactions.
- Responsible for monitoring department operating cost expenditure.
- Be prepared to be involved in a number of ad hoc requests that will be many and varied.
Leadership and Teamwork
- Support the Group Treasurer in promoting initiatives related to engagement, diversity, inclusion and belonging within the Treasury function, leading through managers in the broader Treasury team.
- Mentor and develop Treasury team members, enhancing their skills and capabilities to achieve high performance.
- Lead by example and embody the Rolls-Royce behaviours, setting a standard for excellence across the Treasury team.
Key experience and qualifications
- Qualified accountant with advanced understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards relevant to Treasury including IFRS 9 and IFRS 7 and their implications for the reporting of financial instruments
- Profession qualification in Treasury (e.g. AMCT) preferred but not essential
- At least 5 years’ Treasury accounting experience in a large multinational
- Experience of managing a team
- Good understanding of Treasury Management Systems, HFM and SAP
