As a Transit and Mobility Consulting Intern at Via, you will work to improve mobility for our public transit partners by combining your exceptional analytical skills with Via’s sophisticated transit planning and simulation technology. You’ll collaborate closely with senior members of the Commercial Strategy Team to deliver forward-thinking on-demand transit, multimodal plans for new mobility, and deep-diving studies to design and optimize mobility services around the world.

This is a paid, part-time, Spring internship (10 – 12 weeks) based in our NYC office. There may be an opportunity to extend and/or add additional hours

What You’ll Do:

  • Contribute to complex transportation analysis to help communities study and design forward-looking, multimodal transportation and transit systems.
  • Help bring analytical rigor and planning expertise to Via’s business development process by helping design customized mobility services for potential partners (from major transit agencies to small cities) based on their geographies, land-use patterns, policy objectives, and budgets.
  • Support senior team members in optimizing Via’s partners’ service by providing detailed and action-oriented advice about quality of service, productivity, and fixed-route transit integration opportunities; you will help ensure the success of Via’s global deployments.

Who You Are:

  • A third or fourth-year undergraduate student or a graduate student studying transportation, public policy, urban planning, geography, or related field. 
  • Socially-minded, action-oriented, and passionate about urbanism; you understand the importance of public transit and are motivated to improve worldwide access to mobility
  • Able to think critically and innovatively about mobility challenges, data issues, and new concepts in transportation technology
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills 
  • Excited by gathering and analyzing a broad range of economic, demographic, and other data.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $25 / hour
