Summary
Do you have a keen eye for detail and can spot patterns from an array of numbers? Can you analyse payment flows and spot unusual activities in reasonable time? We need your services at Busha. We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Transaction Monitoring Analyst to join our Compliance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and analyzing fiat and digital asset transactions to identify and report suspicious activities in compliance with regulatory requirements and Busha’s policies. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity of our platform and safeguarding it from financial crimes such as money laundering, fraud, and terrorist financing.
Expected Responsibilities
● Reviewing alerts on KYT, Onchain investigations and Offchain tools at the first level and escalating to the Transaction Monitoring Lead appropriately in accordance with internal policies and procedures.
● Investigate third party fraud reports across all of the company’s products in the first instance and escalate to the appropriate quarters.
● Review law enforcement requests and prepare draft responses for managerial review.
● Prepare and share Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and other regulatory filings with the Transaction Monitoring Lead for review and onward decisioning in accordance with local and international laws.
● Utilize data analytics tools to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in transaction data.
● Provide insights and recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the transaction monitoring system.
● Maintain accurate records of all investigations and reporting activities.
● Support the assurance team to test the effectiveness of the transaction monitoring system.
● Maintain a log/register of all regulations and laws applicable to the transaction monitoring subset of the Busha compliance function.
Qualifications
● Mandatory
○ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in transaction monitoring within the financial services, banking, or digital assets industry.
○ Strong understanding of anti-financial crimes laws and regulations in Nigeria and Kenya and applicable global standards.
○ Proficiency in using transaction monitoring tools and data analytics software. If you have tinkered successfully with one of Chainalysis, Sumsub, Lexis-nexis, Elliptic, TRM or other reputable tools before, we surely can work with you.
○ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Can you read numbers and make sense of it enough to recommend a decision or source for other data? We need your skills.
○ Excellent writing and reporting skills. We want actionable SARs. Not run-of-the-mill drafts. If your report writing skills are top-notch then Busha is the place for you.
○ Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
○ Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
○ Task ownership and ability to self-apply in situations where there are no available templates.
○ Ability to work with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace, Slack and other remote working tools.
● Preferred
○ A training certificate in digital assets investigations is nice-to-have. However, come as you are. We have just the right training and learning environment for you.
○ Considerable experience with Open Source Investigations (OSINT) and popular OSINT tools.
○ Data analytics skills are highly preferred. If you are skilled with using Microsoft Excel (beyond pivot tables), Python, SQL or Tableau, please apply.
Working Conditions
● Fraud never sleeps. You probably know this much if you are our preferred candidate. This role may require occasional overtime to meet regulatory deadlines or address urgent compliance matters.
● We are a fully remote team. We may meet occasionally, but you’re guaranteed to work from home nearly all of the time during your employment with Busha.
