Artisan Partners seeks a highly motivated, detailed oriented and intellectually curious undergraduate intern to join EMsights Capital Group’s trading desk in Boston, MA. EMsights Capital Group is the firm’s newest autonomous investment team that is focused on investing in emerging and frontier debt markets. This paid internship program will run for 10+ weeks during the summer of 2025.

Salary Range: $20-$30/hour

Specific placement within the provided range will be determined by an individual’s relevant experience and skills for the role.

Responsibilities

The undergraduate trading intern will have high exposure to emerging markets debt and derivative instruments and will work in a close-knit team with abundant learning opportunities. Instruments supported include USD and emerging market currency denominated bonds, FX (spot, forward, options), interest rate swaps, credit default swaps, futures and total return swaps.

The candidate can expect to:

  • Summarize significant market news and price movements in an email that is sent twice per day to all Traders
  • Identify relevant market structure articles and daily broker market color from various industry sources; summarize and upload articles into the team’s proprietary research management system
  • Identify relevant market structure podcasts both by sourcing suggestions from the team and through independent research; summarize and send findings to the EMsights trading desk
  • Manage trade blotter and derivatives orders to ensure all orders are current and reflect the correct limits and sizes; coordinate with traders and portfolio managers to ensure communication on all upcoming derivatives trades
  • Communicate with brokers via phone and email to ensure all pre-and-post-trade issues are resolved, including any failed trades, confirming credit line accuracy and interest claims
  • Create an instructional team guide for market settlement conventions in emerging markets, including sourcing research from custodians, local banks and the EMsights trading desk
  • Ad hoc projects as directed by the EMsights trading desk

Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • Demonstrated interest in global affairs, capital markets and asset management
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to perform structured tasks with a high sense of urgency and excellent attention to detail
  • Coding skills (Python, R) and prior working knowledge of Excel, a plus
