Team/Role Overview
The Trading Desk Head is a senior level position responsible for managing the desk of Traders, and ensuring revenue goals are met. The overall objective of this role is to develop and implement a business plan that achieves targets set by the Global Head of the business, while managing risk and ensuring controls are maintained.
What you’ll do
- Manage an efficient trading team, providing continual feedback that affects internal mobility and training, while managing officer title distribution
- Develop a business plan with objectives aligned to global targets, and provide stretch goals to traders, while optimizing resource allocation
- Recruit and retain experienced hires and campus talent in coordination with HR, promoting a diverse and talented workforce
- Develop and manage the risk and trading infrastructure, including portfolio risk, and ensure risks are correctly represented
- Coordinate with control functions to ensure governance and control infrastructure is in place, and communication with regulators is productive
- Manage the technological development of the trading desk operation
- Leading strong governance and controls:
- Work in close partnership with control functions such as Legal, Compliance, Market and Credit Risk, Audit, Finance in order to ensure appropriate governance and control infrastructure
- Build a culture of responsible finance, good governance and supervision, expense discipline and ethics
- Appropriately assess risk/reward of transactions when making business decisions; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same, demonstrating proper consideration for the firm’s reputation.
- Be familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services; and ensure that all team members understand the need to do the same
- Adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by your role which will be communicated to you
- Obtain and maintain all registrations/licenses which are required for your role, within the appropriate timeframe
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
What we’ll need from you
- Experience in a related role
- Required licensing and registrations as applicable preferred
- In-depth knowledge of respective products and clients
- Proven history of successful trading book management
- Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
