Summary: Enterprise Screening & Risk Advisory (ESRA) is responsible for critical risk management activities that involve the screening of Capital One customers and their transactions against watchlists to detect and prevent sanctions violations, money laundering, terrorist financing, and other financial crime. As a Senior Risk Associate at Capital One, you will apply your detail-oriented and analytical skills to support reporting and analysis needs within ESRA and the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Program framework. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and analyzing departmental metrics and reports to support decision making processes. And you will do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promotes continuous learning, and rewards innovation.
General Responsibilities:

  • Reporting: Develop, prepare, and distribute regular and ad-hoc reports for the department, including Weekly Inventory Reporting, Monthly Business Review (MBR) reporting, Quarterly Compliance Review (QCR) reporting, and other performance and organizational health reporting, as necessary
  • Analysis: Identify data trends and provide insights for investigative and operational improvement and solve for them using analysis
  • Execution: Ensure data in reports is accurate and delivered timely
  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including IT, Operations, Advisory and others to gather data and understand reporting needs, as well as offer oversight to enterprise wide objectives such as controls and change management
  • Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving using data analysis and analytics.
  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: He/she should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business
  • Strong communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials to present reports in a clear and concise manner
  • Training & support: Provide training and support to colleagues on reporting tools
  • Clear results orientation: Display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. He/she should be able to drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment
  • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous consulting experience is a plus


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in reporting or data analysis
  • At least 2 years of experience with Excel or Google Sheets and PowerPoint or Google Slides


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or quantitative field such as Finance, Math, Statistics, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • 1+ years of experience in Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • 1 + years of experience using Tableau

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
Illinois (Hybrid On-Site): $92,800 - $105,900 for Sr. Risk Associate
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
