Territory Account Manager, Hamburg Region, Germany

As a Territory Account Manager, you will leverage your technical skills in life science and commercial acumen to achieve sales objectives aligned with the Company’s mission. Building strong value-driven relationships with customers will be key to establishing yourself as a trusted partner and a key team player within our Commercial business.

This is a field-based position, and you are required to be based within 100km of Hamburg, Germany. A valid driving license is required, as extensive travel within the region will be necessary. Fluency in German and English is essential for this role.

As our Territory Account Manager, you will demonstrate professional and strategic sales skills with a proven ability to develop and grow accounts through networking at various levels within customer organizations. Additionally, you will identify qualified leads, convert them into closed deals, and actively build your own pipeline of opportunities.

Preferred Experiential Background

  • Build and maintain high-value, long-term customer relationships through effective sales techniques.
  • Identify and manage high-quality genetic analysis sales opportunities using professional screening processes and all available resources.
  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of prospective customers, including their personnel, budgeting, products and services, competition, and market landscape.
  • Deliver compelling customer sales presentations and participate in customer demonstrations, training, and support.
  • Negotiate sales within the territory and generate associated contracts and quotations.
  • Maintain profit margins through effective negotiation strategies.
  • Effectively manage account and contact details in Illumina’s CRM database and utilize the tool to monitor and guide customer purchasing activity.
  • Leverage the CRM system to expand sales within existing accounts and grow the customer base in the assigned territory.
  • Provide accurate and regular sales forecasts.
  • Create and execute a territory business plan aligned with sales management goals.
  • Build and manage a sales pipeline to ensure the necessary levels of leads, prospects, and opportunities.
  • Meet training requirements on products and technologies.
  • A background in bioinformatics is a plus.

Role Requirements

  • Experience in territory and account management.
  • Proven track record in Life Science or Diagnostics sales.
  • Experience managing complex, high-value sales cycles.
  • Strong technical background in molecular biology or genomics.
  • Excellent sales, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships across customer organizations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in German and English.
  • Ability to travel extensively for customer meetings and industry events.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • BA/BS or MS degree in Life Sciences (or equivalent).
