Job Description
This role will be part of the operations for studio and field transmissions.
This is a project/limited term position, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed. (One year)
Responsibilities:

  • Design and integrate new and expansion upgrades to devices that support broadcast transmission infrastructure.
  • Apply basic project management principles and practices during project planning, implementation, monitoring, and ensure effective implementation and completion management of scope, resources, time, cost, quality, risk, and communication.
  • Research and evaluate new and / or alternative solutions and technologies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs; define best practices and standards.
  • Design infrastructure solutions to meet needs. Applying the best design practices, objectives for the assigned tasks or projects. Looking for an efficient engineering solution.
  • Be able to follow up on equipment orders and deliveries; schedule vendor support on site, as needed. Maintain a positive and productive relationship with suppliers.
  • Be prepared and have the disposition to install and configure any equipment included in the design of any project. Know about integration and configuration of devices, installation and updates of applications; with full operational capacity.
  • Solve problems; coordinate support for operational incidents, leading to problem resolution.
  • Being able to partner closely with Telemundo's production, and operations engineering teams.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations for general network requirements for performance availability, utilization, and reliability as it relates to IP media transport.
  • Communicate with department leadership regarding the status, responsibilities, and progress of mandated tasks and / or projects.
  • Inventory of equipment that is required (In use, not assigned or obsolete).
  • Be able to write basic manuals for users.


Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology.
  • 5 years of broadcast experience. Design of transmission systems in control room, studio, editing and graphic systems.
  • Minimum 5 years experience working on some projects, with a proven track record of on-site achievement and completion.
  • Proficient with MS Office, Project Visio applications.
  • Basic CAD functionality, including documentation creation, redefinition, and layout.
  • Demonstrated experience working on technical projects large and small, independently and as a team.
  • Ability to foster shared purpose, vision, and collaboration.
  • Initiative capacity to take responsibility for the practices; demonstrate good organizational skills and manage time effectively.
  • Strong foundation of networking concepts, preferably Cisco CCNA.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies, in telecommunications.
  • Knowledge with systems as DANTE, Shure, Black magic, RTS.
  • Experience working with EVERTZ equipment.
  • Fast paced environment.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Illumination basic knowledge.


Eligibility Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Electrical or Electrical Engineering.
  • English: intermediate/advanced
  • Full availability to work in the office, field and / or travel if required.
  • Adaptation to the Home office and face-to-face work system according to the needs that arise.


Desired Characteristics:

  • SMPTE IP ST 2110, ST2022, ST2019 PTP Timing transport standards and all supporting industry standards.
  • SMPTE 259M, 292M, 424M and 4kSHD and UHD signaling formats
  • Audio over IP AES 67 interoperability
  • Experience in supporting broadcast production teams from Sony, Grass Valley, Lawo, EVS, Avid, Chyron, VizRT and others
  • Knowledge operating outside Broadcast Trucks.
