Summary:

An Arena Technical Writing Specialist combines the traditional responsibilities of a technical writer, crafting clear and concise documentation for online products and APIs with those of a UX writer, enhancing user experiences for an application used by engineers, product managers, and quality assurance professionals worldwide. Your expertise in UX writing will improve user interfaces and error messages while you also author detailed release notes and create graphic tour documents with high-definition screenshots. Collaboration with various teams will be essential to identify and address documentation gaps, ensuring comprehensive and user-friendly resources.

As part of your job, you will:

  • Craft clear and concise technical documentation for online products and API documentation, ensuring accuracy and ease of understanding.
  • Develop user-friendly UX writing for error messages and user interfaces, providing clarity and enhancing the user experience.
  • Author detailed release notes validated by our validation team, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Create graphic tour documents using high-definition screenshots to guide users through new features and updates visually.
  • Collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers, and QA to craft thoughtful and effective UX writing.
  • Collaborate with customer success coaches, technical support, sales, and product managers to identify and address gaps in documentation, ensuring comprehensive and user-friendly resources.
  • Collaborate with product managers, in-house videographers, and engineering teams to develop content for artificial intelligence and multimedia platforms, creating resources that help users succeed with our application.
  • Assist localization teams in explaining industry terms to an international audience, ensuring clarity and consistency across all regions.
  • Manage PRDs, Bugs, and Improvements assigned through JIRA, author risk assessments, and successfully resolve and close cases, ensuring thorough documentation and effective UX craftmanship.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree, UX Writing degree/certificate, or equivalent practical work experience.
  • Proficient in English with excellent grammatical and editorial skills.
  • Proficient in XML/DITA authoring, Markdown authoring, and MadCap Flare or equivalent for creating and managing high-quality technical documentation.
  • Experience with JIRA, Salesforce, Productboard, Postman, Figma, or equivalent tools to manage and document tasks, projects, and workflows effectively.
  • Familiarity with revision control systems and experience with Git, GitHub, GitLab, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapting easily to changing project requirements and schedules.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute projects from concept to release under strict deadlines and evolving conditions.
