As OneVest expands its product offerings and onboard new clients, technical documentation plays a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for both internal teams and external clients. The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing product documentation, including but not limited to API documentation, integration guides, user manuals, and internal knowledge bases.
What you’ll be doing:
Technical Documentation & Content Creation
- Develop comprehensive, well-structured API documentation to support third-party integrations.
- Write and maintain internal and external product documentation, including user guides, developer manuals, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides.
- Create technical onboarding materials to help clients and partners integrate with OneVest’s platform.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Solutions teams to document new features, workflows, and integration patterns.
- Develop release notes and change logs to ensure customers and internal teams are informed of product updates.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Product Solutions, Engineering, Client Success, and Sales to ensure documentation aligns with business needs and product capabilities.
- Gather feedback from internal teams and customers to continuously improve the usability and clarity of technical content.
- Participate in product demos, engineering discussions, and client calls to gain a deep understanding of OneVest’s platform.
Structuring & Standardizing Documentation
- Define and implement best practices for technical documentation, ensuring consistency in formatting, terminology, and content structure.
- Establish a scalable documentation framework to support product growth and future integrations.
- Improve self-service capabilities for customers by enhancing product documentation and knowledge bases.
Understanding API & Integration Patterns
- Document common integration patterns for financial institutions connecting with OneVest’s platform.
- Ensure API documentation includes clear authentication, error handling, and data model explanations.
- Work with engineers to create code samples, SDK guides, and use case examples.
Must Haves:
- 5+ years of experience with Technical writing in a SaaS, FinTech, or API-driven environment.
- Strong experience writing API documentation, including GraphQL APIs, authentication methods, and integration workflows.
- Ability to build documentation from scratch and implement a structured, scalable approach.
- Understanding of integration patterns with third-party financial services or banking platforms.
- Familiarity with API tools (Swagger, Postman, OpenAPI) and documentation platforms (ReadMe, GitHub, Theneo).
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
- Experience collaborating with Engineering, Product, and Client Solutions teams to gather requirements and ensure accuracy.
Nice to Haves:
- Knowledge of wealth management, investment platforms, or fintech ecosystems.
- Experience creating technical tutorials, SDK guides, or interactive documentation.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and developer environments to document technical workflows.
