The Technical Training Specialist - NERC provides training development and delivery services for online and instructor-led training related to the operation of the electrical power grid, including generation, transmission, and distribution. Functions as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) resource.

Key Functions:
- Participates in all aspects of training including development and delivery of training programs and individual courses
- Monitors emerging changes in NERC training standards and participates in developing new training curriculum (on-line and classroom) to meet these standards
- Plans, develops, and implements technical product training programs for customers; technical training may include standard, repeatable modules, customized and new product modules
- Serves as technical training and simulation subject matter expert (SME)
- Provides one-on-one student support when scheduled (Instructor Hours) or requested.
- Follows up with students at completion of class (NERC Prep class) to gather helpful information for improving future classes.
- Analyzes training needs to develop new training programs or modifies and improves existing programs.
- Functions as SME and performs technical writing as needed

- A Bachelor's of Science degree from a four-year college or university and four years experience in operation of the power grid; or equivalent combination of education and experience totaling eight years.
- North American Reliability Corporation (NERC) System Operator Certified required
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a role where teaching, training, or presenting information to an audience is required
- Proficiency with Systematic Approach to Training and evidence based adult learning techniques
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
This is a Casual opportunity with HSI.
This position has a hourly rate range of $70-$100 USD. Where an applicant will ultimately fall within the stated range depends on a variety of factors, including, for example, geographic location and level of experience.
