The Technical SEO Specialist is responsible for improving the organic search visibility and performance of the company's digital properties in the consumer goods sector. The Technical SEO Specialist involves conducting detailed site audits, optimizing website infrastructure, ensuring search engine crawlability, and working closely with web development and marketing teams to implement best SEO practices. The ideal Technical SEO Specialist will be highly analytical, technically proficient, and experienced in identifying and solving SEO-related issues to drive increased traffic, rankings, and conversions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Technical SEO Audits and Optimization:
    • Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits of websites, identifying opportunities for improvement in areas such as crawlability, indexation, site speed, and mobile performance.
    • Optimize site architecture, internal linking, and URL structures to enhance search engine accessibility and improve rankings.
    • Monitor and address crawl errors, redirects, duplicate content, and broken links to ensure search engine bots can effectively crawl and index the site.
  2. On-Page SEO Optimization:
    • Optimize key on-page elements including meta tags, title tags, heading structures, and image alt texts to improve keyword relevance and SEO performance.
    • Ensure proper implementation of schema markup (structured data) to enhance search engine understanding and visibility in rich results (e.g., featured snippets, product carousels).
    • Collaborate with content teams to ensure keyword optimization, content freshness, and alignment with SEO best practices.
  3. SEO Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Use SEO tools (e.g., Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz) to monitor site performance, keyword rankings, and organic traffic trends.
    • Analyze key performance metrics such as bounce rates, click-through rates (CTRs), and conversion rates, and recommend technical improvements based on data insights.
    • Provide detailed reports on SEO performance to stakeholders, including recommendations for technical fixes and ongoing improvements.
  4. Mobile and Page Speed Optimization:
    • Ensure that websites are fully optimized for mobile devices, with fast loading times, proper mobile design, and adherence to Google’s Core Web Vitals.
    • Collaborate with web development teams to implement site speed optimizations such as image compression, caching, and code minification to improve both desktop and mobile site performance.
  5. Structured Data and Advanced SEO Implementations:
    • Implement and manage structured data and schema markup to help search engines understand the site’s content and improve the display of search results.
    • Experiment with advanced SEO tactics such as JavaScript rendering, AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages), and server-side optimizations to enhance website performance and visibility.
  6. Collaboration with Development and Marketing Teams:
    • Work closely with web developers to ensure that SEO recommendations are implemented effectively without disrupting site functionality or user experience.
    • Partner with marketing teams to align SEO strategies with broader digital marketing initiatives, such as product launches, seasonal campaigns, and promotions.
  7. Technical Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
    • Identify and troubleshoot technical SEO issues, such as crawling and indexing problems, site speed issues, or mobile usability errors.
    • Monitor changes in SEO algorithms, such as Google’s core updates, and adjust technical strategies accordingly.
  8. SEO Best Practices and Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay current on the latest SEO trends, algorithm changes, and industry best practices.
    • Continuously test new tools, technologies, and methodologies to improve technical SEO performance and stay competitive in the consumer goods market.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3-5+ years of experience in technical SEO, preferably in consumer goods, retail, or e-commerce sectors.
    • Proven track record of improving website visibility and organic search performance through technical SEO strategies.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of SEO tools (e.g., Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, Moz, DeepCrawl).
    • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with the ability to diagnose and fix technical issues that impact SEO.
    • Experience with schema markup, structured data, and understanding of XML sitemaps and robots.txt files.
    • Familiarity with web development processes, content management systems (e.g., WordPress, Magento), and e-commerce platforms.
    • Knowledge of Google’s Core Web Vitals, mobile-first indexing, and page speed optimization.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make actionable recommendations.
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Detail-oriented, with strong project management abilities and the capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Python or other programming languages to automate SEO tasks is a plus.
  • Experience working with large-scale e-commerce sites.
  • Familiarity with Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) and User Experience (UX) best practices.
  • Knowledge of AMP, JavaScript SEO, and server-side rendering techniques.
