The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing highly technical, interdisciplinary projects from concept through completion. This role requires a strong engineering background combined with exceptional project management expertise to drive key initiatives forward. The successful candidate will manage schedules, resources, and technical risks while coordinating across multiple internal teams to deliver innovative solutions. You will be the bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with company objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, defining scope, deliverables, and milestones, while managing all phases from initiation to completion.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate across engineering, business, and external partners to align project activities with business goals and technical requirements.
  • Resource Management: Ensure that projects are staffed adequately and resources are allocated efficiently, balancing competing priorities across teams.
  • Timeline & Budget Tracking: Maintain oversight of project schedules and budgets, tracking progress against key metrics, and ensuring that objectives are met within established constraints.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks early and develop strategies for mitigation, ensuring that roadblocks are resolved swiftly and effectively.
  • Technical Problem Solving: Act as the first point of contact for resolving technical challenges that arise during project execution, working closely with teams to troubleshoot and find solutions.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, delivering regular status updates and ensuring clarity around project objectives and progress.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including status reports, timelines, and resource allocations, ensuring alignment with company processes and standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and best practices for project management, promoting a culture of efficiency, transparency, and collaboration.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience managing complex technical or engineering projects involving more than pure software, preferably in areas relevant to optics, materials, chemistry, or high-tech manufacturing sectors.
  • Demonstrably strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfort in cross-functional team management, with an ability to collaborate across diverse technical and non-technical teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a focus on identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions in real-time.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to convey technical details and project status clearly to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • A proactive and adaptable mindset, capable of thriving in a dynamic, rapidly evolving startup environment.
  • A proven ability to learn and work with technical scientific or engineering concepts.
  • Top organization skills with detail-oriented clear communication.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $70k-$140k and we are committed to equitable compensation across our company. We handle our benefits through an annual reimbursement to give our employees greater flexibility with the plans that meet their needs. We offer a Flexible Paid Time Off policy and encourage people to take regular vacation.
