As a Technical Project Manager at MJH, you will be working as a member of the Data organization and responsible for developing, managing, and communicating plans that establish priority, scope, timelines, dependencies, constraints, and resource requirements for data initiatives. You will work closely with the Senior Director of Data Engineering and various teams within the Data organization.
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Data organization to manage the team’s backlog and facilitate backlog review, refinement, and prioritization meetings.
- Collaborate with the Data Product Management team and other business stakeholders to determine project prioritization and facilitate the timely completion of key business initiatives and critical deliverables.
- Work with data architects to perform analysis of business user needs, documentation of requirements, and translation into proper requirement specifications.
- Lead agile processes and meetings and manage the team’s Kanban board.
- Maintain accurate project reporting information and regularly communicate project updates and metrics.
- Ensure open and clear communication regarding deliverables, releases, roadmaps, and challenges.
- Automate engineering team performance dashboarding and reporting to drive fast and actionable insights that drive productivity.
- Remove team impediments to increase the effectiveness of agile team members.
- Coordinate with interdependent teams, aligning roadmaps and deliverables to meet deadlines.
- Establish and develop relationships and partnerships with internal and external team members.
- Identify risks and issues and proactively resolve/mitigate them.
- Develop documentation and diagrams for processes and systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience working with engineering teams and managing technical projects in an Agile environment.
- Ability to effectively manage cross-functional stakeholders with multiple competing priorities and align business priorities with technical team capacity and capabilities.
- Excellent communication and collaborative relationship-building skills demonstrating the ability to manage conflicts and reach consensus.
- Demonstrated skill using software project management/workflow tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Rally, Workfront, Smartsheet, or similar.
- Great team player with the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of management.
- Embrace the unexpected and see uncertainty and change as opportunities rather than obstacles.
- Experience developing and maintaining data and workflow diagrams (conceptual, logical, and physical).
- Self-starter who can effectively establish new function and process.
- Continuous learning mindset.
- Experience with Data Integration, Data Visualization, and Reporting platforms is a plus.
- Previous Jira administrator experience is a plus.
- High proficiency in structuring projects in Jira and Confluence is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
