The Position
The Edge Infrastructure product within Roche consists of several teams that are working on delivering components to the overall product. As PO, you will be responsible to drive that team's vision and execution towards a coherent goal. You will act as a leader, not only by bringing ideas and gathering support for future developments from the engineers and other stakeholders, but also by funneling the creativity and passion of the engineering team into a unified direction that aligns well with the needs of the overall product.
As a product owner you will:
-
Act as the customer’s voice within the team. Invest to understand the needs of users of the components produced by the team. Help the engineering team by sharing these insights, e.g. during refinement sessions.
-
Collaborate with the product manager & engineers to align, clarify, visualize and communicate the team roadmap containing high-level projects for the upcoming quarters. Constantly update it to reflect current realities and status.
-
Assist with prioritizing individual tickets, whether they fall within high-level roadmap items or are independent of them. This includes addressing short-term and upcoming topics such as bug reports or maintenance tickets. Ensuring a balanced approach between feature development and managing technical debt effectively.
-
Engage with stakeholders (within & external to the team) to figure out priorities of tasks and visualize the outcome appropriately with the help of sprints & the backlog. It is your responsibility to ensure that everybody in the team is able to contribute to the best of their abilities with the maximum impact to the product.
-
Plan and escalate. Plan timelines of upcoming work, according to the team’s capacity, skills and absences. Regularly update the plan against the “actuals”, and escalate early in case of foreseeable delays.
-
Participate in the release activities to comply with Roche quality processes and regulations, ensuring that deliverables are properly tested, documented and ready in time to be included with product releases.
Who you are:
The product you will be working on is a highly technical software & infrastructure project, mainly targeting developers. As such, you will be required to obtain a good technical understanding of the tools & technologies involved - and software development processes in general:
-
Required experience:
-
As a technical background, 5+ years of work experience as a software, infrastructure or DevOps engineer. As a bonus, you bring specific experience in the area of cloud-native technologies (public cloud providers like AWS, deployment and orchestration tools like Docker & Kubernetes) or modern software stacks (API and frontend development)
-
2+ years experience in content leadership roles or alike (e.g. product owner)
-
Alternatively, a strong example (clearly visible in the CV or cover letter) of how you have been taking on related tasks in previous roles, even though not officially being responsible
-
-
You demonstrated team leadership and customer focus in one of your previous roles
-
You enjoy organizing teams and empowering them to produce output bigger than the sum of individuals
The position is located in Sant Cugat, Spain and part of a distributed team (main locations in Switzerland, Spain and Canada).
