Overview

The Technical Delivery Lead role at VGV is critical for the technical success of our partners and teams. The Technical Delivery Lead ensures that our customers are receiving the best technical support possible, that we offer simple and elegant solutions to their complex engineering problems, and that our teams deliver software that meets VGV’s software standards.

The Technical Delivery Lead is responsible for guaranteeing that our proposed technical solutions are technically feasible, within the bounds of the project, without compromising on quality nor performance. Your main focus is to enable our teams and our clients to build well-tested software that is ready to scale, to coach our clients and teams in how to write effective software, to unblock any technical challenges that our teams might face, and to partner with our different teams to “build the right thing, the right way”.

A Technical Delivery Lead should have meaningful and extensive experience as a software engineer, having a proven track record of successful deliveries of complex software projects. This role requires a seasoned professional with strong leadership, technical expertise, and experience navigating the complexities of enterprise-level development projects.

Responsibilities

Client-Focused Execution

  • You are a highly trusted and experienced software engineer. You are capable of delivering high-quality and performant software solutions at scale and leading the most complex parts of project development.
  • You consistently solve complex problems with easy-to-understand solutions.
  • You actively lead scoping and estimating activities, working with all your peers and stakeholders to find a way to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.
  • You position yourself as a team/project leader that is highly trusted by your peers. You feel comfortable leading all aspects of your project, from architecture to feature development, and you are a role model for the rest of the engineers on your project.
  • You ensure that your projects contain easy-to-understand and ready-to-go onboarding materials.
  • You can negotiate timelines and estimations with our stakeholders effectively.
  • You express yourself with clarity and authority in front of our partners, leading demos, engineering status updates, and other ceremonies.
  • You advise our colleagues and partners to “build the right thing, the right way”.

Team Leadership & Growth

  • You proceed as a thought leader, willing to inspire and share your professional journey and experiences with the team and community activities representing VGV, such as conferences, speaking events, open-source contributions.
  • You are capable of unblocking the team in times of uncertainty.
  • You actively participate in code reviews and code pairing sessions, taking this opportunity as a moment to mentor and coach the team, leading  with empathy, patience, grace, and gratitude.
  • You use your creativity and technical ability to make standard and process recommendations to the organization, documenting project decisions.
  • You cross-collaborate with teammates from other departments to improve the integration of other disciplines with engineering (for example, by bouncing ideas contributing to our OSS tools, or by ideating new and effective ways of integrating design into engineering).

Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc in Computer Science or related field.
  • 7-10 years of professional experience working as a software engineer in a team environment.
  • Proven proficiency with mobile development in Flutter, either Android or iOS native and backend technologies like Firebase, AWS, etc. (mandatory)
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with team members and stakeholders.
  • Must be available to work in U.S. Eastern Time (ET) or Central Time (CT).
  • Proven experience leading large or multiple development teams simultaneously is strongly preferred over smaller, startup-focused roles.
  • Familiarity with enterprise-level platform development, focusing on integrating complex systems, including experience with legacy systems and their integration into modular architectures or microservices.
  • Significant experience in the discovery phase of projects, including requirements gathering and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Competence in designing systems with modular architectures and addressing platform core system requirements.
  • Strong understanding of software development at scale
  • Strong understanding of the capabilities of critical third party products, such as Firebase, Auth0, AWS, Google Maps, etc.
